How do you handle touchscreen inputs for 2D PC games? On one hand it seems like a pretty inaccessible advantage over mouse controls, it trivializes some runs in which the only skill is aiming and old games were never intended to be played with a touchscreen. On the other hand touchscreens are becoming more common and a ban will look silly.
EDIT: "2D games" was not the best descriptor. The same thing applies to 2D sections in 3D games such as menus or minigames.
For some games a split would make sense, but imagine one, where you have like 30 seconds of menuing in a 30 minute game. You wouldn't want two categories for how the menus are done in such a run.
As always, it comes down to how much it matters for a particular game and how important that difference is to that particular community. For the kinds of games I run the menuing is bottlenecked by things other than player input anyway, so I don't think it makes any kind of difference for us. But if there is a difference, pretty much all you can do is accept that some players will be at a disadvantage (this isn't ideal, but in some cases it's okay, like if the difference ends up being negligible, or all the serious runners just want to do whatever's fastest anyway), or split categories. I'd lean against a full ban personally since it's a completely valid way to use your PC even if games weren't strictly designed with it in mind, although you could make an accessibility argument for that. Once again it just comes down to what the community thinks is more important.
