Welcome to Fossil Fighters. This game is best described as a combination of Pokemon and Digimon, but it is so much more. I am working on making guides for any% and 99%/100%. Comment anything you'd like to know or any glitches you can find.
Hello I just wanted to say your doing an awesome thing and FF is a huge game to me its really sad how under rated it is I recently started playing it again after many years since I got a R4 a couple months back and since im so into speed running now I want to speed run it.So I havent played this game in a long time but I am experienced with it and if you need any help with making the run just ask :)
Same here with Girtana, I've played and loved this game for the longest time, and it makes me happy other people want to speedrun it too. I've done longish marathons of FF, but never in a speedrun sense. I'll time the next time I play and post some results.
Semi-update. Yes, I know it's been nine whole months. However I've kinda been wanting to get into this. I'm currently routing early game strategies, and while I can't guarantee that I'll actually follow through with the whole run, I will be updating for at least a little while. Anyway I may be streaming off and on routing this game. I'll take all the help I can get of course.
Edit 1: I've routed some early sections of the game so far- Prologue and Ch.1 are pretty much good for now. I've started Chapter 2. Will continue with updates.
Thanks for the replies Sealophile and Girtana. I'm currently working on a factual guide, which links the shape/color of the fossils to which piece so it's easier to discard the fossils you don't need. In terms of strategies, I've not had many problems in the early game (Pro-CH3ish) just using Spinax, Megalo and Siamo.
Don't know if this thread is dead or not, but I am looking to get into speed running this game as well. If you guys want any help, I would be happy to do so.
Here's a link to the notes I've put together so far: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HYCJ8sfVaKl8yQNqm6iWCByM1M0nEFrFfZczo2vjYxI/edit Feel free to contact me on Reddit or here for any questions.
This is such a great game and i wish more people knew about it. I was wondering what 80% is and what the point of 100% would be other than something for an event because of how long it would take. Also thanks for keeping this game alive as much as possible.
Nvm just saw where the rules are gotta try to do this when not busy if anyone even cares anymore
Hey Slacking. There's actually a FF discord that's relatively active that I'm a part of. We'd love to collaborate with the route (and we'd appreciate the new face.) Here's a link to the discord: https://discord.gg/aE9Sm7K
That shouldn't expire, but PM me if it does. And of course, anyone who wants to join the discord, for speedrun related reasons or not, is totally welcome.
100% is basically getting everyone up to level 12, considering that that's how you're supposed to get the chickens. That being said, the current 100% run we have doesn't have many of its vivos up to 12, yet still has all 5 chickens; I don't know for sure, but it seems likely that either our understanding of the requirements for chickens are horribly wrong (which would make some sense given how undocumented the game is) or there was some use of the Fossil Cannon.
I can't remember if it's possible to send vivos from Champions to the original, but if it is, that was probably used in their run without them realizing it, considering that it was a casual run for them.
Could we possibly make a category that's "All fossils integrated, all relevant battles completed" instead of 100%? Guhnash grinding seems exceedingly tedious and 80% ignores the majority of fossils in the game.
It might be better to describe the category as "Revive/integrate all fossils, obtain all vivosaurs except the 5 chickens".
Yeah, the level 12 grind is a huge detriment to anyone wanting to play the category; ending runs off by grinding for hours on end doesn't sound like anyone's idea of fun. That's a big reason why I'd rather have 100% be a sort of 99% instead where you gather all fossils and go through all major battles. Leveling up all characters to max rank is absurdist.
I can't remember all of the available postgame battles, though, nor what all they give. We'd need a list of that and some decision on which ones are important.
