Hello Fellow Exterminators!
Daxter has once again returned from its yearly slumber. Along with plenty of news, discoveries and updates. So without further ado, let's get you up to speed on what's been going on..
PS4/PS5 Release
Ahh the big one. As of June, Daxter is now fully playable on both PS4 and PS5. Officially marking the first time that all 6 Jak and Daxter games have been playable on a single console. But what does this mean for speedruns? Well it's early doors yet, but a few differences have already been discovered:
- The early skip into BV1 has been semi-patched. Fortunately Majora discovered a workaround. You can find it Here.
- TMS is functional but has limited use without the ability to remove a memory stick. As a result, Any% might struggle to find a footing on these platforms.
- Save states are a welcome sight for console runners.
As I said before, It's still early right now so we'll have to give it some time to see how it all stacks up against PSP and Emulator.
A warm Welcome to new Runners
June also welcomes two new runners into the fold. Slysonic and Elliots007 both putting in respectable times for Any%. Whether it's just the one or many more to come, we look forward to seeing your progress. Best of luck!
Marathons New & Marathons Old
As mentioned in the previous news post, Majora's Themathon run went down as a true treat. And of course backed up with stellar commentary from Albie. If you missed it don't worry, they're both back at it again on 13 July 2024 01:30 BST with another All Missions run for GDQ Hotfix's Going Places show. Once again, be sure to drop in and show your love and support to both runners, and hopefully they remember to not run on a demo version this time :)
Other News
ZETROCZI (hey that's me!) dropped a very out of date April fools, with the first ever run of Daxter's flash game. You can find it here.
Majora discovered a new 'bugless' OOB set-up for Tanker 2 in All Missions. You can find it here.
New backgrounds have been added to both the main board and CatExt board.
The guide section rework has for now been completed. Our SratDB page still needs some love, but it should hopefully start getting fleshed out in the coming weeks.
For now I think that covers everything, If I missed anything that's my bad.
