Hi all, we've decided to implement a few new rule changes. Refer to the updated Game Rules for full details.
Quality of life patches
We are allowing the use of a select number of quality-of-life patches:
- A patch to keep the game running when not in focus,
- A patch to make the window size bigger,
- A patch to advance the text automatically by holding Z or X (removing the need to mash through the dialogue).
Details and instructions on how to apply these patches can be found on this page which can also be accessed from the Resources tab.
Auto Text Advance
Accordingly, we have now added a variable for Auto Text Advance for those who choose to use that patch. Please note that if you wish to play with Auto Text Advance, then you must use the provided patch to do it; other methods that achieve a similar effect are not allowed. (For example, using a turbo button only for dialogue would not count as "Auto Text Advance" and is not allowed.)
Linux/Mac users
You may use Wine to run the original Windows .exe (this was previously a grey area, but we are codifying it now). The native Linux/Mac ports remain not allowed at this time.
Additionally, as Wine runs may be slightly faster than an equivalent run on Windows, we are currently restricting them to times above 58/50/40/19 minutes for Best/Normal/Bad Ending/Get Panties respectively; times below these thresholds should continue to be ran on Windows. (We may re-evaluate or drop these thresholds entirely in the future, pending further research.)
When submitting a Wine run, please mark the "An emulator was used for this run" button (yes I know, "Wine Is Not an Emulator", but Wine isn't available as a separate platform option on speedrun.com).
