on some levels, i've experienced a glitch where you teleport straight to the portal after hitting the button. so far (iirc) i've only had it happen on levels 5, 9, 12, and 17. i've hit it like 3-5 times on these levels and never on any others. i have no clue why it happens but i theorize that it may have something to do with changing your direction or speed as you hit the button? if we could replicate this setup consistently, it would save a bunch of time, especially if we can make it happen on more levels. i made an image of all the level maps for reference (sorry it's a bit ugly LOL)
I've just had it happen on my stream I'd have to check the vod to see what level, but I also had it happen while I wasn't recording on 11.
after some testing i think the glitch works something like this:
you have to have enough speed, and the portal spawn has to be behind you. if you land onto the button with enough speed and tap the opposite direction (to face the portal) right before you hit the button, you can teleport to the portal. i got it to work pretty consistently on level 17 and even got it in a run, but on other levels i haven't had much luck yet, which i think is because it's hard to build up the speed. worth testing on other levels for more timesaves!
hello! spoke with javi about this recently and after some digging, I somewhat understand how this glitch works (but not necessarily how to make it consistent). basically, the portal to the next level is always active, even if it's not visible. in order to progress to the next level, though, you need to be in the portal and have the button pressed down.
if you move/jump in a certain way where the portal should be, you can trick the game into thinking you're still in the portal, even though you're not, so when you press the button, the game instantly plays the cutscene which transitions you to the next level.
i've attached a messy proof of concept video, using a minor mod i made to the game to tell me if i'm currently "in" the portal. plan on cleaning this up soon.
this is possible in every level with a button (i'm not even sure the jumping i'm doing is necessary, but it brings me in and out of the portal very quickly, which seems like a good way to trigger a collision-related glitch). i haven't recorded all of them since it's still very trial-and-error. besides level 6 and 13, this seems pretty useful If a consistent setup can be found, since you need to pass by the portal (or it's not too out of the way) for each of these levels.
re: level 17, walking into the portal and then wrapping from the right wall to the left one seem to guarantee that you are "in" the portal, likely because the game moves your character's position so quickly.
also the IL timing system should definitely be changed to the time until the next level loads (for ex. all the lv1 runs should be 3 seconds). that's the only thing the game cares about so there's no reason for us to mark it any different
