The Stabilizer Update recently added a more accurate IG timer; however, it only counts up during gameplay. This means someone could stay on the item screen for minutes straight, re-rolling the items before each level until they get the perfect 3 item combo.
This is interesting to optimize and a cool challenge in it's own right, but it's antithetical to the concept of speedrunning. There is a reason why Minecraft switched to RTA after people started excessively pausing.
The current method of RTA timing works fine; let's not change it please.
I think there should simply be a separate RTA and IGT leaderboard
Alternatively, I think an "Any% No Re-Rolls" category also works, the stipulation just being that you can't re-roll prior to levels, but taking a death to reroll is fine
The no-rerolls category should be timed with RTA as well to remain consistent with past runs.
Well, I think the IGT is preferable in the new version since it stops you from losing time to lag or slow menus, which is just a drag. In the game discord we requested the IGT to have the decimal place for a speedrunning mode, so it feels a bit odd to just abandon that
I am talking with them at the moment, once Beast gets home he'll mod me and we will set stuff up
