Thanks to @mhrz for figuring out you can jump to the cliff from the pillar to make the jump to the secret area much easier. My old strategy made the jump maybe 5-10% of the time but this strategy almost guarentees it. The enemies below can still block you, but this was definitely a big improvement for consistency.
You can not shoot in the beginning to prevent all the enemies from spawning in, but I enjoyed fighting them during the wait and it also helps clear the path for for the yellow door later in the run.
