Like the title says, I'm new here and wanted to say hi. I have played Hellpoint casually for a while and really like it.
A couple days ago I downloaded The Thespian Feast and found it pretty fun. That got me thinking of maybe trying to run (or learning to run anyway) The Thespian Feast, mainly because its short and figured would be easier than learning the full run right off the hop. As well as, I have never really done any speedrunning.
I see HELLKITE is the only one with a posted time for it, is there a reason nobody else has posted times for it? Is HELLKITE's run unbeatably fast? Will he come to your house and kidnap your pets if you are faster?
I watched his run and am watching his glitches video because I wanted to see how he had infinite energy at the end.
Anyway, looking forward to any tips, tricks or suggestions you guys might have.
Nah I'm not sure why it didn't catch on. I may have started running it when most of the other runners lost steam for speedrunning the game and really only jungle and raaikken were still running the full game any%. I think its a really fun short run and it is a really good warm up for learning the full game if that is your interest, the glitches are sort of the same. The cube glitch is fixed now in current patch (rip) but you can still make the gltich work just in a slower way. I plan on making some short videos in the near future about the glitches in hellpoint but id say for now there was another thread about getting started in hellpoint where jungle posted a video going through the full game route that may be helpful and then I did a breakdown video of jungles WR talking about the glitches and the route. Feel free to post here for any more specific questions, we would be glad to help
Yeah I was kind of thinking it might be a good way to dip my toe into speedrunning and possibly run the full game eventually. I have been watching both yours and junglerobba's videos and would definitely watch some new ones. I was just streaming some practice and jungle was in my chat and was helping me out, which was awesome. I've only been able to get the ozy glitch once so far and have only tried the warp cancel once and didn't get it. So I have a lot of practicing to do. I'm sure I'll have more questions soon enough for you guys.
Thats great always glad to have more runners interested! Ahh yeah it can be tricky, for ozy I discovered it actually in thespian feast by just holding back while dropping. eventually I got it really consistent by holding back and then hitting dodge once or twice when I land to get as far away as I could really quickly. its just an invisible circle around him that detects you and you have to be outside of it.
for the cube there are a few different ways to activate it in that version of the game, any action that cant be cancelled while the warp is supposed to happen will cause the glitch, it was discovered by players getting hit right when the warp was supposed to happen, jumping at the right time will also work. but for some reason, if you activate the warp and start running, as long as you run for longer than the warp takes to activate and then end that running by jumping it will cause the glitch as well. so that is the way that makes the most sense for speedrunning.

Thanks, the dash back helped. I guess I just wasn't making it far enough back by just holding back for some reason. I need to practice that more maybe but with the back dash I can get it pretty consistently. Now I have to try the effigy alt+tab glitch. Can you interrupt the effigy warp or whatever with an action too? Or just the alt+tab?
I see junglerobba did a run and is now first. Sorry HELLKITE. Looks like I might have started something, lol.
so if you cancel the effigy warp with an action it appears to be frame perfect. I was messing with it and only got it a few times and my last try out of desperation I tried alt tabbing and it worked and its super free, if you are running on console and cant alt tab I'm not sure what would be equivalent, maybe dashboarding on ps4 but not closing the game?
I'm on PC. I had it working for me while doing some practicing. The last couple I tried didn't work though, I think maybe because I was still holding alt and hadn't actually switched to another window. I dunno, I'll try some more. I have a ways to go since I haven't made it through in one shot yet anyway.
