This guide will help to complete your first run of Light of Hope (LoH). This guide assumes you are playing on PC so Switch and PS4 users please take note that some mechanic things will be different. To get through cutscenes the quickest way, alternate pressing left and right mouse buttons and mash the X key. You can occasionally completely skip text boxes this way.

Day 1: Complete Jeanne’s tutorial: Dig four squares immediately to the south. (cutscene) Dig the other four squares in that 8 square area. Pull out your seeds and drag your mouse so that you plant in all 8 squares. (cutscene) Jeanne now asks you to fill up your watering can, but you are going to ignore her. Dig the next two squares to the west of the 8 squares and plant the rest of your seeds. Then talk to Jeanne to get another pack of seeds. Continue to head west while digging up every open spot (you can’t pull weeds at this point yet). Once you reach the large tree stump house you will dig around the pink tree just south of it and then head just to the east of the tree house to dig up the final five squares. In total you will have dug 40 squares. Now begin to plant the rest of your seeds. Find one of the bigger patches and plant in a line (watch mine or maya’s runs for the best movements in this section), and then plant in single spaces afterwards. Once out of seeds go back to Jeanne for more and repeat the process til all 40 seeds have been planted and then fill up your watering can (cutscene) You will now find yourself back in front of the original 8 squares you planted. Water 4 of them. (cutscene) DO NOT WATER ANY MORE SQUARES. Turn and go into your house (cutscene) and go to bed (cutscene)

Day 2 Head outside and pick the weed and stone off of the yellow sprite. DO NOT WATER YOUR CROPS Head East and then go south to grab a bamboo shoot. Then head north and pick up the 2 flowers and 3 bamboo shoots. We are looking for any flowers to be Tulips because we need 3 of them. Go into Jeanne’s house (cutscene) and then hold up when you get done to put the stone into the lighthouse. (cutscene)

Day 3 SLEEP DON’T DO ANYTHING ELSE

Day 4 Go outside and collect all of your cabbages. Go south into town (cutscene) DON’T GO TO JEANNE’S. Instead head south west and cross the little bridge (cutscene) Pull a bamboo shoot out of your bag and give it to Sally. (cutscene) Go inside the house (cutscene) Once outside begin by chopping down the trees by you, head north before going across the bridge for a few stragglers. In total you should chop 7 trees down and have a minimum of 14 softwood lumber. Go to Sam’s shop and repair it (cutscene) Sell Sam all 40 cabbages Go south and repair the flower shop Go back to your farm and chop down trees until you pass out.

Day 5 Go south into town and view the cutscene. Go to the lighthouse and insert the stone tablet (collect flowers along the way)

Day 6 Go north and follow the path chopping trees and watching cutscenes as you go. Cut trees only until you have reached a total of 41 softwood lumber (add in the softwood you spent repairing the two houses!). Collect flowers and bamboo shoots along the way Once you have seen Doc’s cutscene head back to where Nova’s cutscene was and fix the bridge going north.
Fix the first house to the left you see. Go north and fix the mines collecting bamboo shoots and flowers along the way. Go back home and watch the Edmond cutscene (creeper just standing around all invisible >_>) Go to the lighthouse and insert the third stone tablet…. Go to sleep

Day 7 Go up to the mines and talk to Gus to get the Hammer. Go into the mines and go down the floors until you hit level 31. Mine ore until you get 1 iron ore then stop. A note about finding the stairs as quick as possible: Stairs will usually spawn within two tiles of a wall, and are discouraged from spawning next to ores.
When you spawn in find a nice open area away from ores but near walls. Usually 6 square areas are good places to start. No matter where that 6 square area is, dig there for the stairs first.
If no 6 square area exists, then start at the opposite corner from the stairs, avoiding spaces that are 1 square next to ores. If no stairs pop up by now, then you have been given an unlucky floor. Start by hitting every square next to an ore. After that dig in every square that is the 3rd square from a wall. After that...keep going inward until you find it. Eat 4 bamboo shoots when you get to having only ½ a heart remaining to reduce time opening your bag constantly. Once down to level 31 IMMEDIATELY GO OUT VIA THE LADDER. If you are at ½ a heart remaining, are out of bamboo, and have not reached level 31 then immediately exit through the ladder going up. If you don’t, then you will lose all of your progress. Hand in the iron ore you found to gus (cutscene) Go back into the mines and farm level 26 continuously until you pass out (if you have bamboo remaining then eat all the bamboo and farm levels 26-30)

Day 8: Sleep it off champ

Day 9 Return to the mines and farm level 26-30 continuously until you have 18 iron ore.
Tip: Find the stairs leading down FIRST before mining ore Once you have gotten your iron ore go farm levels 11-15 until you pass out Once you reach one heart remaining, only farm level 11. Levels 11-15 are known as gem floors. On these floors Iron, bronze, and silver WILL NOT SPAWN. They are the best floors for making money.

Day 10: Sleep it off champ

Day 11: Return to the mines and farm for remaining iron ore, or farm for gems until you pass out.

Day 12: Sleep it off champ

Day 13
Head to gus’ and talk to him twice to pull up his “shop”. Click on the list button on the right that says “all” and switch it to “valid” This will delete any items you are unable to buy from the shop window, making it incredibly fast to cycle through things. Craft the most expensive gem that you can, you should only have enough money at this point to make 1 Go outside and immediately sell it to Sam Repeat the previous two steps until all of your gems are sold Hint: Keep 2 jade ores available because you will need them later. Also make sure you make 3 glass and 4 iron Once you have sold everything it is time to buy stuff. Shopping List Max out your softwood Lumber Max out your stones You will be creating a total of 60 material stones 4 strawberry seeds 6 wheat seeds 99 fishing bait Go make your 99 stone into 33 material stone at Gus’ Go back and max out on stones again Go make the final 27 material stone at Gus’ Keep an eye on your money at this point. Always make sure you have at least 1k in case you need extra money Go north and go to the pond just east of the mines (Goddess Pond). Fix the southern of the two bridges here. Go across that bridge and fix Doc’s lab Follow the path south and fix the final bridge in this area, and then go across to fix the animal shop. Go back to your farm and repair the barn Now is when you’re going to need to look up how much things cost (or have it memorized). You’re going to need the following buildings: Windmill Cyril’s house Restaurant Tabitha’s house Gareth’s house Cow Sheep 5k for bridge to the underworld If you have the 3 tulips go find another bamboo shoot and then go make Cyril’s house. If not, continue to pick flowers off the ground until you have the tulips. When you craft Cyril’s make sure you have 20 stone in order to also craft Tabitha and Gareth’s houses so you can do as many cut scenes in a row as possible. If you are in town near the end of the day, just go to sleep. If you didn’t have enough money to make it to town to repair the houses you need, go back to the mines and farm 11-15 until you pass out

Day 14 If you got Cyril’s house completed then give him the bamboo shoot and get the fishing rod Plant the 4 strawberries and 6 wheat. Go back up to the mountains for the cutscenes Buy your cow (mandatory) and sheep (if you can) You will be transported to your farm inbetween buying animals. So before you buy the sheep also max out your animal feed (it’s cheap enough) If you have the fishing rod then go ahead and do the fishing. It will be explained below though. From this point on things will be highly dependent on how nice the RNG in the game has been to you. I will be going forward from here as if you had average RNG and are just now on Day 14 getting around to building Cyril’s house. PS: Also make sure from this point on that every other day you go feed your animals. Dead animals do you no good.

Day 15 Give Cyril a bamboo shoot and get fishing rod Do not water your crops From this point forward, you will only need to water the strawberries and wheat every other day. I won’t put any further reminders into this guide. So make sure they get water on Day 16. Go to town and watch the Tabitha and Gareth cutscenes Go north and go into the mines (any floor) then immediately come back out. Time will have advanced by 2 hours doing this. Do this again so that it will be 10am From here on this will be known as doing a “time skip” Fish in the Goddess pond (only 1 fish will spawn! This is OK and is what you want) and fish out the other piece of the stone tablet. Go to Doc’s lab (cutscene) Immediately reenter Doc’s lab (cutscene) Time skip until 5pm or later Go back to the Goddess pond. Specifically cross the north bridge and fish off the 3 square area there. Fish off the middle square until you catch a Yellow Perch. Then go to the right most of the three squares and fish straight south until you have 2 regular Perch. Go put the third stone tablet into the lighthouse.

Day 16 Now that you have the third tablet you have access to the beach area and Carol sells more flowers. We don’t care about the beach until we go to access the two cutscenes we need. Go into the cave north of the Goddess Pond and watch the cutscene Time skip until 11am Go south to Carol’s and buy 10 Cosmos and 99 fertilizer (there should be a cutscene when you enter town talking about the bluebird) Go to your farm and plant the flowers you just bought, water them, and fertilize them. From this point on you will need to water and fertilize your flowers EVERY DAY (for safety. You can actually do it every other day and risk the RNG, however unless you are going for WR I do not recommend this as even the current WR uses this safety) Go mine and pass out if you absolutely need more money otherwise just

Spring 17 - Summer 3 This is highly RNG dependent and so from here on I won’t be planning out each day for you. Sleep while taking care of crops and animals until you get a cutscene from the sprites when you wake up talking about how it’s a sunny day and you should go to the beach. Time skip until 5pm then go south to the beach area for a cutscene where nothing happens. Repair the restaurant on your way back home Go talk to Gabriel (after you do he will always be outside your house next to the mailbox like some sort of creepy stalker man) Sleep while taking care of crops and animals until your cow has grown and produces either 1 great milk or 2 milk.
Go repair the windmill and turn your wheat into flour and then make the delicious animal feed. Also, if your sheep is fully grown then you need to get a great wool from it (no other wool type will count). So here’s what you need to do. Wait until your animal is no longer hungry and save OUTSIDE THE BARN. Go back in and trim your sheep. If you don’t get a great wool then load your game back to outside the barn and try again. Repeat until you get the great wool. Talk to Gabriel and if it is a sunny day then go time skip until 6pm. Go to the beach and watch the bluebird cutscene Head back to town and enter the restaurant (cutscene) Go back into the restaurant and buy 1 sugar Go to your house and make the strawberry Jam Go to the Goddess cave and get the fourth tablet Go put the 4th tablet into the lighthouse RIP RUN 5th tablet is destroyed I make this “joke” every time. Eventually it will get old. Maybe. Go to the Goddess cave Go to Gus’ and buy 4 bronze, 2 silver, 2 jade, and the upgraded hammer. Go into the mines and mine for 6 mythril Ore from level 31-35. Go to Gus and buy 2 mythril Sleep until a minimum of Summer 1!!!!!
This is super important, you can not talk to Doc until summer 1 because otherwise the flower he asks for will be a pink rose which will take time to grow and require you to water and fertilize it through summer. Go to Doc’s lab (opens at 10am so time skip as necessary) Go talk to Carol Go back to Doc Go back to the Goddess cave Go repair the bridge to the underwold then talk to Gorgon Go back to the Goddess cave and you will get transported to the lighthouse Go back to the Goddess cave and summon Oliver Go put the 5th tablet in Run over! Congratulations :) I have deliberately left this guide vague-ish in order to help with additional routing. This route is not perfect and definitely not optimized, so let’s have fun and push each other to do better :)
