1. Select Control style 1.2(solitaire)

2. Then select configure(switches from 1.2 to 4.1 custom)

3. Scroll down to the dpad and change it to move & strafe.
   You want to set both left joystick and dpad to both move & strafe.

4. You want to get a rubber band and band your left joystick (up) so it will always move forward, then you just have to worry about changing strafes using the dpad.

Goldeneye 007 Rare Replay basic movement and settings Guide! Part 1 DaisyFan

Greetings! i'm DaisyFan,
I'm a speedrunner that started with Goldeneye 007 on the nintendo 64 early in january 2018, its been 5 years since i've joined the hobby of speedrunning. Goldeneye was my first ever game to speedrun and learn and is still a game I occassionally play!

I wanted to make a base guide on the Rare Replay, Re-release version of Goldeneye. I thought perhaps it would be cool to help out the new runners that may want to try there hand and speedrun Goldeneye in its former old glory!
In my guides, i'm mostly going to explain and try to bring some basic knowledge in some of the Missions/Difficulty, and to start with I would bascially give you an idea of how the basic movement works in this version.

Basic knowledge of Rare Replay Version so far.

1. Control Style 4.1 Custom: In the Rare Replay Version of Goldeneye 007;                                                                                                                 Both Xbox One and the Series System(s,x) consoles. You can customize your controls of what button you would like to remap. For speedrunning, we mostly go with Dpad as Move & Strafe, though the rest is mostly optional. There's times your gonna need to remap the button for different missions,(same for sensitivity)! In 4.1 you can hold to gain fullspeed on the cinema just like 2.X in the OG version of the game. Its mostly helpful for the basic levels like Dam, Runway, and more! (edited)

2. 30FPS + Slowdown effect: The good thing with this version is it will stay at 30fps compared to 20fps on the Nintendo 64 version, although due to some odds, your gonna see some slowdown effect during the gameplay, A good sample is bunker 1 in some places.

3. Movement/changes/tips: Mostly in Goldeneye speedruns you want to gain fullspeed by specifically strafing, either left or right, it gain mostly gave the max speed as possible. There's also things like Lean which doesn't exist in this version of Goldeneye, now you can fully toggle aim and move freely, as last change notice, Warping still exists, but only on Xbox One? Series (X,S) isn't possible due to the better framerate for the newer consoles.(Runs to good to lag right lol)

As last part, for anyone new into Goldeneye speedrun, i recommanded to startup with something very short and simple, Runway, Bunker, Dam, Cavern, and Streets. Most likely After you play through everything on Agent you know if you want to continue the grind.
