I have made an Autosplitter for LR which splits on day ends and a few key mandatory fights. It can be accessed in Livesplit by editing splits, selecting Lightning Returns as the game, and activating. If there are any questions or new split requests, let me know either through this website or the FFXIII Trilogy Discord Server and I'll get right on it.

I included a new version of TheOOT's Load Remover in the Autosplitter. TheOOT's load remover didn't mark many things that were loads as loads, and also had trouble correctly identifying the loads associated with traveling to and from the Ark. Specifically, if you don't skip the day-end cutscene, the entire trip to the ark is marked as a load, while skipping it meant none of the trip was marked as a load, meaning it was "faster" to not skip the cutscene.

If there are no concerns, I propose that we begin using this new load remover for the "No Loads" time on the leaderboard moving forward.

Where are we on this? It's been nearly a month and there are no dissenting opinions on adding Easy to the LB in some capacity. Even if we don't agree on a new format, we can do something and if people don't like it make a change.

Nobody considered Easy because it was introduced after the console release, and only the normal difficulty more or less mimics the parameters of the console release. For the sake of speedrunning, though, Easy difficulty is the way to beat the game as quickly as possible, so there's no reason I can see for not including it on the leaderboard. I also think that it invalidates using the name "Any%" for PC, since you're adding a totally arbitrary constraint; a difficulty setting is completely different from something like a glitch that can be limited in an Any% category.

Just kidding. Where you at, Flobber? Time to turn off OW and get to work.

I really liked backgrounds as a way for a community to personalize their game's leaderboard. I also don't like that the default is light mode, which is not customize-able.

Most of the rules that were posted seem reasonable to me. Speaking for the FF12 community, though, we are generally opposed to the JP timing method. Waiting through the credits is a pointless waste of time of time, stops you from enjoying ending cutscenes (and singing!) and introduces the possibility of something going wrong after a complete run that could stop it from being a record. This may seem unlikely, but it happens; my JP PS2 has a faulty lid detector, so the disc will occasionally stop spinning. This caused me to lose several seconds during the credits in my first JP WR, which is extremely frustrating, as one could imagine. That said, timing from power on to final hit would be a compromise that solves the mentioned issues and would probably meet much less opposition generally, but would punish FF12 runners who want to change their game settings (aspect ratio/sound options/subtitles/etc.).

To me, it's frustrating that people would think to abuse glitches like the emerald weapon glitch, as it goes entirely against the spirit of speedrunning that I've seen in these communities.
