You should also use the practice mod (celesteclassic.github.io/practice_mod) to practice your routes so that you are more consistent. You should also join the discord server! People there are really nice and will help you if you have any questions.
If you are bored I’d recommend trying some of the category extensions. Some, like abt (all balloons twice), can be quite fun.
Human Key% is what the rules say. key%… I can’t explain key%. Nobody really can. It’s like trying to explain life.
key% is a way of life. You either live it or you don't get it. If you need it explained you'll never get it.
I’m not an expert on this, but seed manipulates RNG, which consists of balloon position. If you know what you are doing (which I do not), you can adjust the seed for greatest chances of optimal balloon positions for certain routes that involve balloon RNG such as 900.
If you meant intended routes in terms of no speed tech like corner jumps and spike clips and spike jumps, there are still a number of skips possible without using those features, such as 1100m skip, 1900m skip, 2100m skip, 3000m skip, and probably several that I’m forgetting. Still, some other features are subjective, like cloud boosting and grace jumps, as the route for 700m would be debatable as no casual player would “accidentally” finish the route, making the entire category subjective. However, if the mods come up with a way to make a category similar to this, I would love to play it.
That would be very hard to do, because certain optimizations would be considered part of the “intended route” to certain mods but not others. It’s subjective, and very difficult to lay down an explicit and conforming rule set for such an abstract category, but it is a really cool idea.
There are no glitches in Celeste Classic. Spike clips, boosts, and corner jumps are unintentional features that are a result of the way the game is coded with spikes not hurting you if you are moving away from them. These features are not “glitches”, but rather unintended features that speed runners take advantage of. The only feature that could be considered a “glitch” is Gemskip (by dashing the same frame you open this chest), but that can be bypassed with chestskip.
Thank you so much! I would join the server but I don’t have discord.
If you want to perform an IL speedrun on web, you should go to celesteclassic.github.io/practice_mod. When you complete a run you quickly press ctrl+9 to save an 8 second GIF of the run (make sure it is your last tab so you get a GIF instead of switching tabs). Then to click and drag the gif into a new tab and then submit the link to speedrun.com.
I have been running all category extensions as Human Key%, and I have done every single one except 3000m for Gemskip Human Key%. Does anybody have any tips, or is it just impossible? If anybody beats 3000m in Gemskip Human Key% fashion, can you send me a clip or a GIF? It may be impossible, but I can’t even do 1600 left side so I may be missing something.
You are supposed to just wait. Also you should give the mods 3 weeks to verify any runs as per the speedrun.com terms of service, however I am also curious as I have had a run awaiting verification for almost 2 months.
I play at celesteclassic.github.io/webek.html because there is no screen shake and it has an auto splitter.
It most likely depends on how fast the run is. If it is a top run in a major category, they may reject it, but otherwise I don't think that the mods will hold a laggy game against you.
