Like suavepeanut says, they will definitely be added to the board but it's pretty important to play them first to best understand how the categories will and should look. And then we create the boards. Expect to see the new categories pop up shortly!
Hey Tumbledweeb!
Honestly, we feel the same way. Even when I played casually I wished for a button that would automatically fill the caseboard for me, but the biggest frustrations are where the caseboard blocks your progression. It can make sense for some things, but not being able to pick up the circuit board in Coffee World without doing the caseboard is probably the biggest example of somewhere I feel hindered by it. It's not that hard to piece that part of the puzzle together, I don't need the game to spell it out for me
First of all, welcome to the speedrun community! The main place to start when learning this run would be to get the hang of the movement; Running and then jumping to recover stamina. You should also practice flashlight stuns to run by non-essential enemies. There will be some combat you'll be forced to do, you can see strats on how to do them fast by watching the top runner. Congrats, you're now a pretty decent Alan Wake speedrunner :)
As long as you have video evidence then we can use that to calculate the final time. It's easier for us to verify if you can use Livesplit though, either during the run or adding it to the video later on.
Hiya!
I felt like it could be beneficial for us to have a Discord server that is focused on Alan Wake and speedrunning specifically, so I've gone ahead and created one myself after chatting with the leaderboard moderator.
If you'd like to join, here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/bvzcw8A5J6
I'm hoping this can maybe help invigorate this run and get more people interested in running the game. Hope to see ya there! <3
Pro tip from a fellow noob who just used an autosplitter for the first time with this game:
- Remember to right click on your Livesplit and select to "Compare Against" and "Game Time". Otherwise it will still remain on Real Time, which is the default. Hopefully this helps!
+1 on the good idea, I'd like to see this.
