Hi everyone, Not sure if this is the place to ask but it was where I thought to go. When Pannenkoek talks about Mario’s movement being in quarter steps in between each frame, it makes me wonder if we could theoretically upscale the games frame rate and have mario move a quarter step per frame instead of the normal 4 quarter steps. And if we were able to, what kind of ramifications it would have on the game as a whole. A lot of the wild PU strats would probably be different being that you would be able to just move one quarter step and see the change immediately instead of having to match four quarter steps before the frame advanced, but in normal play I can’t think of too much that would be changed. I thought the fact that 4 calculations happen before we see a change was interesting and it got my mind turning. Hopefully somebody who actually knows how the game works can provide some insight. Thanks, Paco
Hey guys, I used to run this game around the 2013-2014 time frame, and never ended up posting any videos. Being that there was no WR at the time and not even really a community I had to discover any skips and exploits I used. My PB was close to 2 hours and most of the skips I used were worse versions of skips you’re using in the current runs, but I was curious if an older route and some unused glitches might be something that would be useful or interesting to you guys now. I doubt most of what I found could have any effect on the run but it might be cool to see an isolated run with no outside help. I mainly found: -Numerous worse versions of the barrier stone skips.
- Small clips into doors and walls using Lok’s Tak throw. -A useless, but entertaining, moon jump (for lack of a better name) on the water fall in the first level -Other misc. routing differences Sorry for the length of the post, I just want to make sure that I’m not leading anyone into thinking I have some holy grail run of skips from ye olden days just hanging out, and make sure there is gonna be some use recreating the play from 7-8 years ago, before I go and waste anyone’s time. Thanks mateys, Paco
Does anyone have an idea of the single star records and what the theoretical time would be if we kind of stitched all of the single star records into one big 120 star record? TASes are cool, but I was wondering what a human could theoretically do if he did all of the craziest strats in one run. Thanks, Paco
