What is Themeathon*?*** Themeathon is a charity marathon created by Lordmau5 and Jugachi in late 2016. The main focus of the marathon is set on speedruns, the art to finish video games as quickly as possible. It's going to be held online so anyone wanting to submit a speedrun themselves can easily be a part of the marathon. All the money raised is going to go directly to the Save The Children organization.
But here's the twist: What makes us unique in comparison to other's is the theme for every marathon. During the intermissions we are going to be doing "our thing" on camera for you at home to enjoy. That means we are acting out the theme and try to make the intermissions as entertaining as possible. Additionally the layout, the alerts, the website and everything else is going to be different each time as well. The only thing not affected by this is the limitation of video games that can be submitted to the marathon.
When is Themeathon? This year's marathon is going to be held from the 1st of August until the 5th of August 2017.
Why should you be a part of Themeathon? To make Themeathon a great and successful marathon it not only requires an organized staff team but also you as a participant to show the world how far the limits of video games can be pushed!

What is Themeathon?
Themeathon is a charity marathon that raises money for the Save the Children charity. Every marathon will feature a different theme, for example: the 80's. The main event this year will take place between the 1st to the 5th of August over on our Twitch channel (https://www.twitch.tv/themeathon). This year's theme is: 80s. Do keep in mind that the theme does not restrict the games you can submit! During the main marathons we will be using Speedrun.com 's donation tracker with Save the Children's PayPal so all the money donated during the event will go directly to charity, not to us. We do however hold a yearly fundraising stream with the purpose of raising funds for equipment, costumes and such for the main event. The marathon will be taking place online for now, but in the future we might consider to host an on the spot event as well. The Themeathon staff will not earn anything from this nor do we want to.
How can I submit runs?
It is actually really simple to submit a run. You just need to do the following:
- Provide us with a video of a run with marathon commentary
- Post when you could run your game in the comments.
- Fill out the form linked below.
- Provide the time you are available from the 1st to 5th of August in the comment section (IN UTC+2!!!).
Additional information:
- If you are submitting a race, ALL RUNNERS have to submit.
- If you submit multiple games or one game with multiple categories, you have to submit every game / category separately.
Submissions will close on the 11th of June at 23:59 UTC+2!
