So I've gotten a couple questions about how I judge the timing on runs. I have a picture in the rules to denote the frame I start counting on, and I adjust times based largely on that timer. That said the rule for when timing ends is still a little vague, just being "When the screen fully turns white" which is a bit hard to gauge.

For a while now what I've been doing is going frame by frame in submitted runs, seeing what the time is when they first cross into the loading zone, and then adding 3.5 seconds, as that seems to be about how long the transition takes. (This really only works for runs where the player jumps out the window and gets to the zone early, but that's been the only kinds of runs received in the past year lol)

I hope this helps clarify, and I'll update the rules accordingly when I have a bit of free time to do so!

Much apologies if anyone just got any notifications on here about their runs being verified! I just went and separated the subcategories for Any% and 22HH into separate variables in the back end of the leaderboard, which led to all the runs being taken off the leaderboard. I'm 90% reverified all the runs that were on the leaderboard, but if you see your run isn't on there please call it out here and I'll add it back on (assuming it wasn't rejected in the first place) The reason I've done this is so that now subcategories can be added that only apply to one particular run, for example adding a Collage Ending subcategory to Any%, as a run where you make only half the Habiticians happy wouldn't ever apply as a 22HH run.

Since there are people actually running the 100%/All Items route, I'm gonna spend the next couple of days deciding what specifically is required for that run (All photos, all paintings, etc.) and touch up the rules to clarify that. As it stands right now, I'm leaning towards all the variations of the paintings that Dallas can make for Mirphy aren't necessary, but all photos are and both versions of the pickl jar are (Meaning you have to get Gillis to open the jar for you rather than just breaking the jar against Randy's head)

Feel free to let me know how you feel, and despite how the rules may change both runs submitted prior to these changes (one hasn't been verified yet) should be grandfathered in with no trouble

Apologies in advance for the huge post lol So currently with the rules for speedrunning this game, there's no way to beat the game in less than 5 days (assuming you're doing a best end category) because on each of the 4 days there's something you need to do that will unlock a new area but you still have to wait until the next day. But while I was screwing around I realized that there is a way to beat the game in 4 days instead of the normal 5 using a certain skip, but it's only possible to do it by quitting out and reloading mid run. If you jump out the window like you would but land in between the Carnival and the building instead of going straight to the Carnival, you can run around the loading zone for the end credits and get to the end of the hallway to the Boiler Room and jump down past the chain link that you'd normally need to clip with the shears that Trencil gives you on Day 2. Once you jump down you can take a picture of Tiff, then quit out to the main menu, and then reload your save, as reloading a save will always spawn you back in your bedroom. Once you've done this, you can go through helping Millie, Trencil, and Ronbo like you normally would, but once Ronbo mentions potentially getting a new picture of her you can immediately give him the picture you took of Tiff, and he'll open up the Carnival on Day 1 instead of Day 2, meaning that Gillis will be available to talk to and cheer up Day 2 instead of Day 3, you can cheer up Lulia Day 2 instead of Day 3, cheer up Kamal Day 3 instead of Day 4, and go face Habit Day 4 instead of Day 5. All told this really only would save about 5-10 seconds judging from my attempts at it so far but I think it's worth mentioning, and even if the rules don't change I think it could be neat to make a new "Four Day" category where you're allowed to do this instead of the usual methods, and I thought I'd share my findings!

I just read Taternator's description of their 22 Happy Habiticians video and they talk about using the stopwatch to speed up time when going to bed to skip the fade-in effect and they say that this could also be done to skip the fade to white effect when ending the game, but that they didn't do this during the run because the fade to white is used to time when the run ends. My question is just: Since the run ends when the screen has fully turned to white, would ending a run this way be allowed? Having tested ending the game this way, it seemingly makes the fade to white much more abrupt, meaning it would be easier to see when the timer for the run should be stopped.
