Hi, I know this is a relatively obscure place to ask this question, but during my runs of this game, I have had some difficulty with starting the timer properly.

Many people who speedrun hacks are able to instantly reset when they press F1, but after searching around I have found no information on this topic.

Is this just about specs or is it a setting inside Project64?

Normally you can go to Options -> Settings -> Rom Settings in Project64 1.6 and set the counter factor to 1 which should minimize the count of slow resets but either way the runs will be retimed so it won't matter if you had a fast or slow reset.
