The rules for the trials category state you must complete the trials for all 55 characters, however PC and Xbox only have a total of 50 characters (12 of which being DLC). How is this one timed, do we use an external timer since there is no in game timer for trials? Also hello to the new moderator team, glad to see some love for SFxT.
Edit: Separate question i'm adding onto this instead of making a new thread. What's the rule on the version that needs to be used? the up to date version has very different balancing compared to the vanilla version which is what I see one of the Arcade mode runs is using.
Ah good catch, I'd forgotten those extra characters were DLC-based and not included in the base download. How does a category split sound for No DLC vs DLC Only? I'd like to get some feedback on this before we actually finalise things.
This list of characters below seems to coincide with what's mentioned on the Steam Store page: • Sakura • Blanka • Guy • Cody • Elena • Dudley • Lars • Alisa • JACK-X • Bryan • Christie • Lei
After some investigation with the help of one of our co-mods DWednesday , there also appears to be these characters that are exclusive to the Playstation port but there's a PC community patch on Steam to add them in: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=649186874
• KURO • TORO • Cole • PAC-MAN • MEGA MAN
With this in mind, a No DLC category would encompass 38 characters whereas a DLC Only category would be the remaining 17 I've mentioned above which XB360 sadly wouldn't have access to; I do feel like that's an acceptable tradeoff however.
Concerning external timers don't worry about using one if you don't like to, that's just for people that want to know RGT as a reference to know if their completed runs are good enough for them to want to even submit or not. If you have no official RGT just list an approximation from your recorded video (since otherwise SRC won't let you submit without any listed time at all) and we can framecount the actual IGT for you which is the one that's actually used to order rankings before it gets verified to the board - I must admit though, having external timer splits by character is a very good way to make sure you don't accidentally miss a character since it would be tragic to invalidate the submission like that so the choice is yours there.
In this particular category, mods will be manually framecounting each 1-20 trial segment for characters then combine the time since there is no in-game round counter associated with Trials - basically the same thing we plan on doing with individual trial runs just for each character attempt, then combined together. We decided to do it this way so that no one would have to worry about a platform category split.
Finally, concerning game version there doesn't appear to be any official ruling on this yet and while I personally feel like the most up to date version should be the standard I don't see how this is something we could actually enforce without seriously inconveniencing the community no matter which version they happen to currently own. Considering this, I feel like leaving it open is the most resonable approach however we're happy to keep an open mind on this for the future so if anyone has ideas for this that they would like to put forward, you are welcome to. Would you be able to link the run you mentioned earlier here for us so we can investigate further? If the balance change differences ends up being significant enough to warrant the rule change it'd definatly be worth finding an appropiate solution for it.
[big]Edit:[/big] Quick update that we've made some changes to the board to demonstrate the above findings. Please let us know if you feel there's anything in addition that has yet to be represented.
