RTA viability

Hello Tech/Other runners, this game is free with PlayStation Plus beginning 6th February and there will probably be a small influx of runners, including myself.

As this this game's current runs are timed RTA, is there a difference in the loading times on console vs PC? and if so, is it consistent enough to time out with a simple subtraction at the end of a run? Or would we have to decide on either keeping RTA and disadvantaging the consoles, or manually timing out loads to keep it fair but time consuming?

I'm looking forward to running this game regardless, It's gorgeous and has a great story and sweet skips to learn. Let me know either way, GLHF running. :)

We run RTA and PC has the fastest loading time so console runners like myself will have to be at a disadvantage unless we were to separate the two. It's good to see more people wanting to run RiME i might have to get back into running it as well hopefully we can find some new glitches/skips lol.

With loading differences since the beginning we've known that PC has the quickest loading times, being ~15-20 seconds faster than PS4 and ~30-40 seconds faster than XboxOne. From different PC runs I don't believe whoever has the best and most powerful PC has the advantage over other PC runners, the load times seem to be extremely similar to each other. Eventually if we get more runs on the leaderboards, because of the loading times' disadvantages on the consoles specifically, we may have to create subcategories for each platform, or if someone is successfully able to create an autosplitter for PC, we would most likely move to PC only, but that won't be happening with the game in the current state.

Thanks for the replies gents. I wouldn’t want this to go the way of PC only, that seems like it would deter new runners quite a lot, especially considering the sheer amount of platforms you can play the game on. If it comes to, at the very least we should split the boards and include everyone who wants to play!

I wouldn't exclude the other platforms obviously, autosplitters move most players that have access to a good computer to do runs on there, it's just a possibility to how the ruleset of "Time with & without loads" would end up, which means Times without loads (autosplitter) would be the official set timing method of the game, Times with loads would be pushed out and we could not do anything about it besides have the console platforms official timing method as Times with loads, which would be unsettling to the leaderboard.

If you did time without loads then it would be up to the moderators to manually time the console times which seems quite tedious. The only viable option is IF this game actually became optimized to the point that seconds matter, then separate categories. Which probably isn't going to be soon. But I will also be running this game along side Glitch, so look out for some new skips. ?

It would not be a proper thing as different PCs has slightly different but similar loading times, so times without loads would not properly work out.
