Any% Utopia Guide

The any% run takes advantage of a duplication glitch. There are some tutorials on Youtube on how to do the glitch. Take a practice run or two to get used to duping quickly.

This run can be split into two halves, before 15 mins and after 15 mins. The blueprints for the antennas and receiver can only spawn in after 15 mins have passed. 

The strategy of this run has changed. And the first half of the run can be optimized further to save time. 

Before, you had to prepare as much as possible without having the blueprints for the antennas and receiver. And then the run would really start at 15 minutes in with the first objective being swim around picking up barrels and hoping to get the blueprints quickly. This wasn't very fun as it was completely luck based and could end runs right then and there. 

The new strat relies on the fact that barrels do not have predetermined loot, meaning that what is inside the barrel is determined when you pick it up out of the water. Because of this you can hook a barrel at the 14 minute mark, wait until the 15 min mark, pull it out of the water, and have a chance to get one of the blueprints instantly. But that's not the best we can do, you can have multiple items on your hook at once and this applies to barrels as well. 

With a normal small-ish raft that we use in most categories of runs, it is a lot harder to pick up multiple items and impossible if the items are on opposite (left/right) sides of the raft. However, If we build our raft such that it extends out on each (left/right) side we can now pull the hook left and right as much as we want, and can collect many barrels on the hook without reeling it in. 

In the first half of the old strategy, it was relatively easy to complete all the tasks necessary within the 15 minutes and once these tasks were completed we'd just wait until the 15 minute mark. There was no use in trying to optimize anything in the first part of the run. But now, the faster we get these tasks done the more barrels we can have on our hook and the more likely you will get one or both of the blueprints right at the 15 minute mark. So optimize away on the first half, and be rewarded with instant blueprints. 

The second part of the run now remains similar to the old run but once we get good at getting blueprints early, it will be more important to optimize the second half of the run, especially the climb, which was never all that important before.

That's the high level strategy for the Any% Utopia that I came up with and plan to start using in runs. Hopefully the higher skill ceiling will draw more people to the category and maybe bring back players who left it. 

Sub 25 is gonna be a fun one.

Easy mode raft

Since on easy mode you can die without losing everything the only things you will need on the raft is research table, sail, smelters 1-2, receiver, 3 antennas, storage (optional) and disposable anchors. 
minimum raft size is 2x2 with the posts on the outside and the second floor set up outside the 2x2 to maintain the sail clearance in the middle and for receiver and antennas to be stationed up top along the edge

Lemons' Research Notes and De-RNG Database

In an attempt to learn about the more intricate parts of Raft, I've been doing some research in some of the less known parts of the game. I'll be going back to this guide semi-frequently, when I have more to add or edit when new tech develops. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my work!

##### Q: Where/How do the Antenna and Receiver blueprints show up?

Answer: The where is pretty simple, they both spawn from Barrels floating in the ocean, the how is (eventually) very simple. **TL;DR 15 Minutes/Shark Attack 2/Moon overhead**
Since I knew they spawned from barrels, the test was simple: play a ton of rounds in the beginning until they show up, and record the results. I also figured I'd collect some barrel data while I'm at it. All the runs had the same objective: pick up every barrel, record the results, and repeat until the Antenna and Receiver have been acquired.

Run 1: This run was pretty straightforward. I stayed on the boat and only hooked barrels until I(hopefully) got the blueprint. Eventually at night time I got the Antenna, and Receiver in the next barrel.

Run 2: Did the same test as Run 1 so I could compare which things were similar and what was different. The end results were concerningly similar. Materials gained were about the same, so I wasn't sure if you needed a certain amount of something before you could discover the blueprints. While there were less barrels at different times, the barrels near the end were in a somewhat similar pattern and were picked up around the same time as before, so I kept going.

Run 3: Luckily things were different this time around, with fewer barrels and no sign of a second island until a fair bit after the blueprints. One thing that I did notice was that I previously obtained the Antenna first, with the Receiver usually being next to or within eyesight of the first. This time there was only 1 barrel, and it took some time for the next barrels to show up. The next bunch had the recipes, so I marked it as good enough. The most important part was that despite all the different events, it happened at the same time as the previous runs.

Run 4: I had a hypothesis that there was a time delay before they showed up, so this time I didn't pick any barrels up until night came. I thought I was wrong at first but after my boat was attacked the second time, the next two barrels I picked up had blueprints. I had established a new theory that around this vague time of a second shark attack, the blueprints would then be available.

*Intermission:* I figured it would be important to get actual times for when events happen, so I timed a lot of things. 
* The first island shows up 4.5 - 5 minutes into the game, give or take a few due to island size.
* The first shark attack (on easy) happens at 7:15, and the second at 14:30
* "midnight" happens 15 minutes into the game
* Barrel contents: 4-6 pieces, almost always 1+ planks. Very random spread though.

Run 5,6,7: Waited until 15 minutes with a timer, and the first two barrels I picked up were Antenna and Receiver. It seems pretty cut and dry that they will not spawn before 15 minutes so I re-established that as my baseline. Run 6 I grabbed a barrel at 7 minutes and another at 9(accidentally) and held on to them until 15, and when I pulled them in I got the Antenna blueprint. This means **Barrels don't have set inventory** and are randomized on pickup. Run 7 was just to verify that distance didn't play into it, so I anchored at the first island and waited till 15, and first pull was an Antenna.

In conclusion, the Antenna and Receiver blueprint are obtainable from Barrels after 15 minutes of in-game time, and nothing else.

Moving/using saved worlds

First, navigate to:
C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\LocalLow\RedbeetInteractive\Raft\User\User_[SeamUserID]\World

Then you should see a file called [your world name].rgd
That is your world's save file, and can be copied and placed into other users' game.

	*Tips:*
• Jump + Sprint out of the water when swimming places. You can sprint midair, thus providing a slight speed boost.
• The Shark is pretty aggressive. It's a good idea when starting a new file to lure the Shark fairly far behind your raft, so when you re-spawn you can get far enough ahead of the Shark to avoid catching aggro. This allows you to get to the first island and collect 7 wet bricks before your Raft even arrives at the island.
• If you NEED to fully loot an island, try to anchor on the opposite side of where most of the loot is. If you're far enough away, the Shark should never aggro onto you, allowing you free farm without any issues.
• The Shark will never attack your Raft if nobody is near it. Loot without worry! He will never take your Anchor, Sail, etc. without you being near the Raft.
• Flippers are very helpful, especially when swimming to the Radio Tower / Vasagatan / Balboa
• Radio Tower and Vasagatan load onto the map when the Receiver on your Raft displays they're about 400 knots away. This means when the Raft is about 550-600 knots away, you should start swimming towards the place, because you can get to there at about the time it loads in.
• Balboa loads onto the map at about 700 knots away. When you feel the lag spike from it loading in, you should immediately bait the Shark away from your Raft, anchor, and start swimming. If you don't anchor, you risk Balboa unloading because your Raft drifted off.
• THE ENGINE/STEERING WHEEL IS NOT REQUIRED FOR BALBOA. However, you'll need to paddle the entire way, which is fairly expensive. I'd guess 5-6 Paddles are needed. Balboa always spawns against the wind. If you plan on doing this, it might be beneficial snagging a lot of plastic from the Radio Tower and Vasagatan.
• There's a couple tricks to baiting the Shark. You can spear him just as he does his dash attack. If you successfully hit him, you will take no damage and he will swim away for about 4-5 seconds. You could also try to jump over him as he does his dash attack towards you. If you successfully dodge him, you will take no damage but he'll turn around very quickly and try to bite again after 2-3 seconds. If you have lots of health, you could just swim far away taking every bite.
• Wet Bricks take 5 minutes to dry.
• Seaweed takes 45 seconds to smelt into Vine Goo
• Both Metal and Copper Ore take 1 minute 20 seconds to smelt into ingots.
