Due to some dialogues being unskippable in the game, it has been decided to implement an automatic masher for the enter key on PC.

It is the only tool that will be allowed and no other key can be bound this way.

With this, the leaderboard's shape and rules are in their final version, bare any major update or major discovery.

Divine Trials were added to the game was part of the 1.3.0 update. Unlike the boss rush mode, these trials do not feature a built-in timer, so you have to play them in a speedrun mode save with a running timer.

For PC runners, the auto-splitter has also been updated to time your run automatically. You just need to start the trial from a speedrun save with LiveSplit open. It will automatically start and split exactly once on finishing the trial, and reset on retries.

For each boss level, two difficulty options are live:

  • Rookie
  • Immortal

You must play using the restricted ruleset defined here.

In light of this update, the custom view for the IL Leaderboard has also been updated with new tabs, you can check it out here.

Hello!

This news will be pretty big so buckle up!

With the v1.4.0, the Mask of Darkness DLC got released for what is, probably, the last big update the game will receive.
We took this opportunity to act a lot of changes on the leaderboard, as this was the best moment in our opinion and we made clear. We got experience with the game and a good community was created around it so we could talk things through and improve the leaderboard and rules. Thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion.

OLD RUNS DEPRECATED

We moved the current cursor to v1.3.0 for runs to be on board so a big clean happened. With time, we will move on to 1.4.0 and hope it's the last big version that may break things. The Steam's release is also hopeful in case we need to downgrade. Let's hope we will never have to find out if it'll work or not.
A forum's post was made with a link to all the runs that got deprecated so if you're interested in them, check it out!

"ALL BOSSES" GOT RENAMED TO "ALL OVERWORLD BOSSES" (AOB)

This category got renamed to not included the Divine Trials or the new final boss of the DLC. This is to not ruin the experience you get from this category by spending a long time doing trials.

"ALL COLLECTIBLES AND QUESTS" (ACQ) NOW REQUIRES THE DIVINE TRIALS

It was a free content in 1.3.0 and is a new side quets with 4 new amulets!

NEW MAIN CATEGORY: "MASK OF DARKNESS"

With the DLC being a decent stand alone and the run being vastly different from the base game, it has been decided to add it as a new main category! Some runs are already up and more discoveries are found as we're talking :).

NEW MISC CATEGORY: "STORY JOURNEY"

What would be a good Prince of Persia game without its story journey?
To complete this category, you need to finish the Mask of Darkness DLC before finishing the main story. This is just to make sure a dialog at the end of the game (from Sargon to Thomyris) makes sense.

"100%" GOT DELETED

This category was never truly done. Now with the new content, it would be 113% but rather than creating it, we decided that seeing someone upgrading amulets and griding money for 30 money wasn't the best experience. Our completionist category will be "ACQ" from now on.

"GAMEPLAY RESTRICTIONS - REGULATED MOVEMENTS" GOT DELETED

This category was temporary and due to its inactivity + allowing two actions to be bind on one button (see previous news), it was deemed obsolete and deleted. The runs also got put in the forum's post previously mentionned, due to all of them being pre 1.3.0

"GAMEPLAY RESTRICTIONS - LIMITED" GOT DELETED

It has been removed until further discoveries are made and if an interest is expressed from the community.

"DIFFICULTY - ANY PRESET" GOT RENAMED TO ROOKIE

The name "Any Preset" only made sense before the speedrun mode being created and enforced. Now, you can't change difficulties mid-run, hence why it was obsolete and confusing.

"DIFFICULTY - IMMORTAL" GOT DELETED FROM SOME CATEGORIES

It has been deleted from Any%, ACQ and Story Journey since these categories have an emphasis on speed. It was kept in the "AOB" and "Mask of Darkness" categories, as those categories are here to show fighting process.

"DLC REQUIREMENT: DLC/NODLC" GOT ADDED TO "AOB" and "ACQ"

Due to the DLC adding quests and bosses, and it being a paid one, we split those leaderboard with a new subcategory.
Please check the requirements for these categories in the Rules.

NEW BOSSES FROM THE DLC GOT ADDED TO BOSS REVENGE

Without spoiling their names, the two new bosses are now available to speedrun through the Boss Revenge's mode! Enjoy!

SMALL BOW HOVER ARE NOW ALLOWED IN "RESTRICTED"

Up to 2 Hover Movements are now allowed in Restricted without touching a wall or a ground to reset that counter.
Extended Bow Hover (so more than 2 Hover movements) are still forbidden.
The ruleset has been updated to reflect this change.

OLD TIMING RULE IS BACK

With the speedrun mode's introduction, the timing was started from the first cutscene in the game.
We went back to the old timing method, so from the moment you gain control of Sargon. LiveSplit does it automatically, which is why you may see a difference between the speedrun timer and LiveSplit if the runner started from a new savefile.
This also allows people to create custom starting saves with custom controls and game's option set before their run starts. A guide has been added to show you how to do this!

Rule update!
From now on, having one button that triggers two inputs simultaneously is allowed.

Meaning you can slide cancel with one button or starts flying fast in a more consistent way.
Don't hesitate to play with it and report to us how you feel about this change and if a combination of inputs is too detrimental to the speedrun since, currently, you can do any combination of inputs possible.

If you have no idea how to setup this double inputs on one button, we got you covered with two guides: one for controller users and one for keyboard users.

A few weeks ago, a new update went live.

With this update, the developpers added a boss rush mode and a boss revenge mode.

Basically you can refight all bosses or a selected one with a timer.

You can find those new categories in the "Levels" section or by clicking here.

3 difficulty settings are live for every challenge:

  • Any Preset (Rookie, Warrior, Hero)
  • immortal
  • No Hit

You must play using the restricted ruleset defined here.

A bit more than a week ago patch 1.1.0 went live. The biggest change here was the introduction of a speedrun mode as a result of which the game now has an in-game timer. After investigating the new features and some discussion among the community we decided to make the speedrun mode mandatory for all submissions from here on out (the run that were submitted prior to this news post are exempt from this rule).

Moreover, as expected a number of bugs have been fixed. For the specifics you can check the TLC google doc, and to keep things fair---as there is still no official way to downpatch in Ubisoft Connect---we had to reset the boards once again. As before these runs are archived in the "Old Patch" misc category, see here and here.

The game patch 1.0.4 which has been released by Ubisoft on February 8th, 2024 has fixed a number of glitches and tricks which were used in, or even core to, the Any% categories. Most notably, the boss zombie glitch has been patched out but also the restricted categories are affected: e.g., the invisible wall between the two seals at the entrance to the Pit of Eternal Sands now extends all the way up so the old strat where one simply sword hovers over it does not work anymore, cf. also the patch notes.

Long story short, as a result of the patch all runs done on previous versions of the game have been archived in a misc category (direct link). For the unrestricted categories this was the only feasible options. For the restricted category things are a bit more ambiguous since, e.g., there is another trick to get into the Pit of Eternal Sands early which, however, is a lot more difficult than the previous version. Thus to ensure a fair competition we decided to archive those runs, as well.

That being said, the loss of (easy versions of) the zombie glitch is countered by a very powerful ledge warp which has been found by the community since patch 1.0.4 has been released. Thus I am sure that runs on the "fresh" Any% board will be just as exciting!
