Yeah, what about a pointless leaderboard for a 3 minute category ? You sure are the very first one to ask, or even think about that.

This is not very easy, for an optimized race you need to : -reset the gba at the right frame -optimize the movements (and the dialogue) -know the rights steps for the good end (switch the first pokemon with the tenth, throw the good object,...)
I think this is not pointless: this is very fun to play and accessible even to the less experienced players!

you can run whatever you want, doesnt mean it has to become a category. The reason that this wasnt a category in the first place is because pkmn speedruns first used igt, and with this if you're good enought you can get an igt of 0:00, which was pretty pointless. But not that its changed to rta the problem is that it isnt a competitive category, there's not much room for improvement, once someone gets a perfect run is over
This is a competitive category : Everyone can run this without try hard by hours, but, if you want to do a good time, you need to do some improvements (menus,movements, or you can choose an other way to go to the hall of fame ).And you say that once someone gets a perfect run it's over, this is like all the games no ?
For a category to be included it has to first be posted on the Pokémon speedrunning website and then see if it gets attention, though with this category I doubt it will get accepted, since it's pretty pointless
I've just made a post about category extensions on the series forum. I think this kind of run would rather fit in there. I would love this to be a category, however I can understand these kind of runs not being on the actual game page.

There are some ways that it can be improved. A different TID can result in a faster time, and the menuing in the WR for this category isn't the best. I don't have Discord, so I'll ask here: how would I get a TID of 0x64d0 (25608 I believe) on GBC or GBA?
