Official ruling for full-game PC runs using a premade save file?

Hi,

I'm starting to record some runs on PC (thanks so much for organizing the categories). I'm very excited to start recording attempts but in my first attempts I have noticed some avoidable annoyances at the start of each run. And I was hoping I could start runs with a special pre-made save to reduce the pain of resetting runs. There are two primary issues that I'll elaborate on below.

Every time I reset my save file I have to scroll/accept several agreements (t&c, eula, privacy). But if I alt-f4 after accepting the agreements I am left with a save file that I could use instead of a full-reset. And then the first time you start from that save it takes you directly to the unskippable intro cinematic. This doesn't seem problematic so I'm going to assume this is an acceptable practice. But if a mod could confirm this I would appreciate it very much.

The second issue I have with resetting my save file is likely more controversial. After resetting the save file the music volume is reset to 100% and this causes issues with Twitch VODs because some of the music causes twitch to auto-mute the vod. You do not have the ability to mute the game music until after the run timer has started. So I feel I am forced to take a time loss at the start of the run in order to mute the game music and restart my normal music playlist. If you edit your save file (by hand) you can pre-mute the music volume so dmca-protected music does not start playing uncontrollably during character customisation. Additionally, the ability to start a run with vsync off would be nice though potentially not required.

To summarize, I would like to start my runs from a save file which is modified in the following ways:

  • legal agreements are already accepted
  • volume and display settings preconfigured

When doing the above correctly the run will be able to start as normal with character customization but resets should be faster and the runner is not forced to take a time loss due to repeated initial setup being required at the start of the run, while the timer is running.

Would you please consider allowing and clarifying rulings around these situations in the official rules? For the time being I will continue to lose time resetting music volume in each run as to avoid having my runs disqualified. Thank you again for your work on the game's page. Hopefully you'll see some runs from me soon. Cheers <3
