Currently there's really only 2 versions of the offline version of the game, every other verion will have too many missing features for them to be worth while. There's v1.8 which came out in or around June 2015, and has been updated over time to its final 1.8.3 build. The other version is v1.9.3, which people will use for multiplayer because it comes with the online server as well as an updated online launcher that you have to log into every time you want to play, even offline. It came out pretty recently, sometime in 2017, and gets decent update support.
Now why do you need to know this if you're new to this game or even an old player who wants to simply do ILs? v1.8.3 has cheats built into the launcher for getting yourself to max level, all the money you want, all the boost you want for powerups, all the slots you want (you get the point),instantly. You don't even need to have 5 minutes into the game and you can have every top tier car with elite parts & skills to submit runs here as long as you use someone else's profile. By profile I mean you can import someone else's cars if they give you the right files, then boom you have their cars in your game.
You don't have the freedom to do this in v1.9+ builds, probably because they linked offline and online servers together into that new launcher. So if you just wanna run some track that takes 2 minutes to do that you may or may not have played 500 times before, you need to actually grind the game to get anywhere. The problem here is 90% of people who might consider submitting their times here won't care enough to grind a dead game that already died in July 2015. For multiplayer maybe, but for offline ILs against bots? Why even bother?
What's the big deal though? Can't you download the old 2015 verion from somewhere? All I gotta say to that is good luck doing that anymore. You use to be able to get the whole verion just by googling it from the one site that has the v1.1, v1.2, v1.3, and v1.4 installers. v1.3 being the v1.8.3 final build, and the current and only available v1.4 installer with the v1.9.3 current build. The site for some I'm sure great reason deleted the ability to download any of the other installers besides the new one, so the only way for you to get the build you want for ILs is by goolging around and piecing an old version of the game together, which isn't too hard to do, but again, why bother?
And now even less people will ever consider downloading this free game to beat someones run. Since I'm willing try to get more people to submit runs here, just do a basic google of where to find the v1.8.3 files. There's maybe 3-4 new runs submitted to nfs world every ~2 years, it's just sad really. For a game that at its peak had thousands upon thousands of people trying to be 1 micro second faster to get a WR, I gotta do something so even if 1 more person gets into it in the next year I feel like I'd have accomplished my job.

There's now custom servers now for online servers setup to give you 500m and nothing costs boost, but it takes longer to restart tracks since more stuff needs to load, the game crashes sometimes when I go to exit it to the point where I gotta restart my entire computer, plus if the server goes down you can't run tracks. The only real advantage is there's a lot of tracks added to any of the updated online servers, as v1.8.3 has 1/2 as many tracks or maybe even less.
I managed to download the v1.8.3 with the cheats launcher after some deep digging. May I post the link to the forum containing the launcher here?
Can you still download the Offline Version of Need For Speed: World to where it does not infect your computer with anything? I want to get back into that game again. If there is anyway I can download the game again and play it. I might have a big chance at Speed Running that game. If anyone has any way to find the link to the game that would be amazing. I used to play Need For Speed: World all the time.
