Config editing has been looked down upon within speed running communities I’ve been in. Externally capping fps is okay. I’m complaining to the moderators because the rule doesn’t apply to me. It didn’t go over 250 during the run. So it should count as a completed run. Now if it were of to went over 250 DURING THE RUN, then it would apply to me. But, then we have runs that are over 250 FPS that were allowed until the FPS rule came into play, which was about a month ago. How is it fair in any kind of circumstance? Just so the incompetent Moderator knows from now on. I’ve capped it at 248 just so the if the cap messes up (like it usually does) it may go over by 1 or 2 frames.
So if I see a run that hits 250 without capping it, I’ll know that it was truly just pettiness.
Config editing is literally fine in cod runs and is used by pretty much everyone, as in some cases, it’s the only way to cap your FPS. It’s ironic you’re calling Vanilla petty, when you’ve deliberately gone out of your way to go under the cap very slightly, just to try and justify your point. That my friend is pettiness. Cap it to 250 and move on.
I've tried to stay out of this but eh, whatever. You're missing one point Scottie, the POINT of the rule. The point isn't that... oh if you hit 251 just once you gain 5 seconds so we can't allow that. The point is to keep runners, as best as we can, at around the same FPS so there's no gains one way or the other. THAT is the reason the cap is at this specific number, to keep similarity between runners. By capping it lower than the rule you are now being the petty one.
It doesn't matter if it strays just a touch above 250, that ain't the point dude. The same cap between runners matters.
@Phantom If the point of the FPS rule is to keep the runners about the same. Then how does that go for other runs that were sent in before last month? That’s when the rule wasn’t applied.
@Toucann Just returning the favor. Fire with Fire.
@Vanilla_Gawr Then all of the runs that were previously submitted before last month is unfair. The last part I don’t understand. The English is off, it’s kinda just going over my head.
3 pages 😭 blud you couldve just done another run already
When a runner wants to submit a run for the category, the rules must be followed. At the end of the day, that's what the rule is, you must follow it.
It's been pointed out that previous runs were retimed with this in mind. There's no disadvantage. There's no reason to discuss this further, I'm going to lock this thread. If you want to discuss if the rules are fair, then open a (non-aggressive, mature) thread regarding that.
