Since the 1.02 patch, and the fixing of the dragon gate skip (that was performed using the new inventory glitch), there has been little motivation for anyone to run the remaster.
Very few people will play the game in its current state. The dragon gate skip needs to be unpatched in 1.03.
I suggest contacting Other Ocean (twitter.com/other_ocean) and requesting that they remove the fix.
Contacting the developers of a game to request that they undo the fix of a major glitch is not an unprecedented idea; it has been done before with Ratchet & Clank (PS4). In both cases, the glitch did not affect casual players, as it was not a glitch that was able to be accidentally stumbled upon. Patching such a glitch only negatively affects speedruns.
I think that this is very much needed in order to create activity with the remaster.
I'm currently running the game on the 1.02 patch. The only reason I haven't submitted a run yet is because i'm working on getting the time down. I also considered contacting the devs to undo the patch, however, I ask possible runners to try and run the game as is. My current run consist of playing all levels. The run focuses heavily on tight gameplay, as well as collecting 5 chalices to obtain the brad sword (this might still change). I would love for another runner to try this route as well as critique it. Im also not apposed to having the old skips back.
On a side note, Did the devs patch the haunted ruins skip? I had that skip down and since picking the game back up I haven't been able to do it even once. I have found another skip for the level (Which can be seen on my youtube channel), however, it is nowhere as consistent as the original skip.
All the discs of the game are 1.00.
If you want to run with the old skips then get a copy of the disc and run it. I don't really see what the issue is here. This is a widely accepted precedent across multiple games.
The point is to keep one leaderboard for Any% and one leaderboard for 100%. It's only logical. We don't need another console and emulator ordeal.
