New category idea

I was wondering if we could make a new category where you just run the house instead of the whole game. Mainly because its a 3 hour run and maybe this could encourage players to run the game. What are you guy's thoughts on this idea?

I really like this idea. We could have a category for each of the mansions. I think that the timing could work where it starts when you can control Luigi in the first mission and ends in the boss mission when the final E. Gadd call tone is heard. That may be a weird way to end the timing, but my reasoning for that is that the in-game timer for the mission ends when you receive the last call. You also can't control Luigi anymore after that point. I think that this run should also be able to be done on a completed file. That way, you could run the later mansions without having to start a new file every time

The only thing is that these runs would recquire a 100% file, so it is faster. Although, i like the idea.

I think that any run like this should be on the level leaderboard rather than as an individual category on the "Full-game" leaderboard. I do realize that it would get more attention on Full-game but doing just one mansion isn't enough for a category there. (Especially since you don't start at the same time as any% it really makes it seem IL) I think it is a great idea though. 1st place would require video proof because of there being no easy in-game time

The evidence that is required for runs should be better determined overall. Right now, I just sorta guess if a time needs evidence or not and what sort of evidence should be required. For this idea, the WR time would definitely need a video, since the game doesn't have a way to time multiple missions while showing that those missions were played. I think that the mansion runs could go into misc. categories on the main leaderboard. Makes more sense to me that way, but I can see an argument for them being in the level leaderboard cause they're not categories for the entire game

I think if we do use this as a category we should make it a Misc. Putting it under levels would give no motive to run it. imo

Alright, so I've gone ahead and added the categories. I've also clarified the evidence requirements for all categories and levels. All existing runs are exempt from the requirements. I've also submitted my mansion times from my 2:47:15 NG+ run. Hopefully they are good enough to act as barriers for WR. Wouldn't be good if the Gloomy Manor WR was like an hour, otherwise a video would be needed for even average runs. I think they should be fine though

Does mansion% specifically require an NG+ file, or would runs that are on incomplete files still count? Admittedly the only practical use of a non-complete file would be not be needing to menu in secret mine, which would only save a couple of seconds at most.

United States

As long as your timer starts and ends correctly and you played all the missions except for the bonus in the mansion, then it counts. There's no file requirements or restrictions
