Can we get some and do we actually know what emulators were used by the current 28:xx emu runners?
I used Fceux I believe. Currently there is no rule but I would like to get messen banned. And only use nestopia, Fceux or bizhawk(emuhawk) I Also suggest that we implement a controller input reader or hand cam.
mesen RTA is a great emu, prob the most accurate one we have out there. Jnes def should get banned.
I believe nessen has a faster processor speed then normal hardware which is why it's banned in most communities. Or something along thos lines. I stand firm on having an input reader or hand cam is important especially since this is a mashing heavy game where turbo could be abused.
I'm pretty sure with Mesen, people got afraid of the initial tweets about it regarding the run-ahead feature. Its still the most accurate NES emulator out there and im on team don't ban mesen.

Mesen does not have a "faster processor speed". Mesen bans were a knee-jerk reaction to the run-ahead feature, which many people mistakenly thought was undetectable. This is not true. Use of run ahead can be detected so long as the input display feature is turned on. You can learn more about that in this youtube video I created:
Unfortunately many of the games that were quick to ban Mesen have been slow to unban it. But for the record: Ninja Gaiden, one of the most competitive NES speedruns, has unbanned Mesen.
As Xenkaroshi pointed out, MesenRTA is a great alternative. Not only did it remove the run ahead feature completely (so that moderators don't have to bother detecting its use) it has other enhancements that make it harder for people to get away with certain shenanigans like romhacks and memory watch. I made this "infomercial" detailing all of that which you can watch here:
Wow thanks space, didn't even know you followed this game 🤣. Then I admit I was misinformed. I'm not a moderator so really Nes and or manticor should chime in.
yes, where are our beloved mods standing in regards of this topic @NESCardinality
If what you were specifically looking for is whether you can use Mesen, it's okay with me. I have updated the rules to reflect the list of emulators that is fairly standard for all NES games, and added Mesen for this one. Obviously, run-ahead is not allowed.
