There are six camp counselors that can be selected in Friday the 13th. George, Mark, and Paul are the three guys. The ladies are Debbie, Laura and Crissy. Each of these six counselors have specific skill sets, but only Mark, Crissy and Laura are useful for most speedruns. On top of having different skillsets, each of the six camp counselors must kill a different number of zombies before items will start to spawn. Below I will describe the skillsets, and the amount of zombies required to be killed before items will spawn.


The Guys

George - Slow running, fast throwing, short jump - 2 zombies

Mark - Fast running, high jumping, slow, short-ranged throwing, only character who rows the boat fast - 3 zombies

Paul - Slow running, fast throwing, short jump - 4 zombies


The Ladies

Laura - Fast running, slow, short, ranged throwing, short jump - 5 zombies (very bad starting with her for a speedrun)

Debbie - Slow running, fast throwing, good at optimally falling off a cliff - 4 zombies

Crissy - Fast running, high jumping, fast throwing, can't row like Mark - 3 zombies (all around a better character than Mark due to her throws)


If you gained anything out of reading that, it's that you should only start a speedrun with Mark or Crissy for optimal times. Mark and Laura are also the only characters with a slower and short-ranged throw, Mark is the only one who can row fast (hardly useful). However the current Any% route you always start with Mark and end up passing your torch to Crissy (a seed with Laura instead of Crissy exists but it's slower due to extra menu'ing). You'll only ever use Laura in an instance like this where you pass your weapon. Pamela Powerups has a seed for both Mark and Crissy, but Any% always starts with Mark. The TAS route starts with Crissy but it's not RTA viable.
