The global rule for emulators in (all) speedrunning (and racing) (outside of Tool assisted stuff, naturally) is to not use any functions not originally present on console anyway, so it really shouldn't need to get stated in every game's rules. Emulator usage is, in fact, fairly commonly allowed in smaller communities, as long as the emulator isn't woefully inaccurate.
things like RAM watchers and savestates explicitly move any run into the realm of Tool-assisted instantly, because that's what they are. Tools outside of what is readily available in a console setting.
Pretty much everything that Fell has said here. If emulator features that weren't present on the original console were allowed, there would be absolutely no point in ever running the game as it were released. Emulator is an option for those that cannot afford or have no viable way of recording gameplay off of an actual cartridge or official release like the virtual console on the Wii U.
I'll add clarification to the rules but I assumed that something like this would never have to be stated anywhere.
Idk what you're looking for here. The rules were updated to be more clear. That's really all that can be done. Your run won't magically be added just because the wording was missing for a rule that's pretty ubiquitous across most speedrun communities. It would be as if someone paused their timer and took an hour long break and tried to submit it because it wasn't explicitly disallowed; runs are generally RTA unless otherwise stated. Same situation here for emulator tools.
Still don't know what you're looking for here. Are you trying to get your run re-verified?
You can try asking around other communities, but most are going to tell you that using emulator-specific tools are considered "tool assisted" runs and not allowed, even if it's not in their rules (take a look around most of the other Final Fantasy boards). You clearly didn't think that all emulator functions were allowed or you would've done most of the run with turbo. If you had questions about what was and wasn't allowed that the rules weren't answering for you, you could've easily asked on the forums or in the public discord.
You brought attention to the fact that rules were "missing," and they were added. There's nothing more to be posting about regarding this subject.
Well, I can pretty much guarantee you that won't happen.
Why not just do another run? You can continue to use emulator as long as you don't use emulator-exclusive tools.
I honestly don't know what you expect and this is a completely pointless argument. I want to assume you're completely new to speedrunning or something and have never realized there might be globalized rules regarding emulators and the clear advantages they'd hold over consoles if every feature were allowed. However, your profile here shows that you have been running games the last 10 months or so, among them many Mario games. I looked at the leaderboards and none of them have rules stating savestates are disallowed. Try posting in their forums asking if you can use it in runs for them or even in the general speedrunning forums on this site and you'll get the same answer everywhere.
Pokemon is probably the one outlier in the speedrunning community you'll find that makes a big deal out of everything and specifies every minute detail regarding their runs. Using them as an example doesn't work well.
Anyway, I'm done with this. I've given this response more time than it was even worth. Sorry for your bad experience with this game and speedrunning in general.
Hey folks its been a while, since my little mess up on Febuary I am happy to let everyone know that currently my old discord account was secured and the community discord is still in tact. Going to post a new link for the discord.
