**Intro/Settings**
- Steam version is best version.
- Game is normally run in French which saves time due to spoken dialogue, but it's recommended to learn it in English/your preferred language, and start running in French once you are more familiar.
- The run is measured with loadless time, this is configurable in LiveSplit along with the autosplitter (Edit Splits, set game to Fable: The Lost Chapters, then click Activate).
- You can run the game in a window using dxwnd, for information on how to do so: https://www.speedrun.com/fabletlc/guide/3pj34
- Gameplay Settings: Subtitles off, Tutorials off, Guildmaster Help and Interface Opacity are optional. If you are having issues with the camera, turn off Follow Camera.
- Video Settings: Lower resolutions are better, as UI elements do not scale making mouse movement slower at higher resolutions.
- Keybinds: Rebind Block/Roll to a more comfortable key (e.g. R), Context Sensitive Item 3 to something else (Will Potions), Absorb Experience and Spell mode should be bound to two seperate keys rather than them being assigned to one key by default.

**Before you begin**
- When you're first making a speedrunning profile, immediately Hero Save once you gain control, use this save as a 'reset point'.
- Don't spam the Roll key blindly when moving as this results in inconsistent rolls.
- Get a feel for the movement and the timing of rolling by doing laps around Oakvale.
- When resetting, quit to the main menu rather than loading directly via Esc + Load Game, as stats can carry over otherwise and invalidate your run.
- Don't change profile when doing runs, as this can cause save corruption which will invalidate the run.

**Childhood**
- Go backwards, roll to Bully, punch 4x
- Straight down hill, give teddy bear to girl with the 1 key
- Speak to Brom, then speak with the cheating husband behind the house
- Accept Bribe, guards will now chase you when you are nearby (RNG)
- Speak to Trader and get Chocolates, straight towards Theresa
- Say no, press 1 to give Chocolates (saying yes loses 1 second, you can do this if you want starting out)
- Follow path to Brom, finishes quest

**Guild Training**
- Guild a little bit more difficult to roll in, make your way to Guildmaster
- Use your Stick on the beetles, don't swing randomly, try to get as many in a single hit
- Attack phase of melee= 3 hits, move forward 4 hits.
- Block phase = Roll-Block Hit-Roll-Block-Roll-Block-Block-Roll-Block
- Fight = 3 hits, wait for Whisper (she will flip forwards or backwards, RNG), 4 hits
- Ranged: After hitting Dummies, during test hit Guildmaster 4x with Bow
- Will: After hitting dummy, fire lightning then hit the Guildmaster 4x with Bow
- Maze: Melee = Hit 7x, Ranged = Hit from a distance, Magic = Shift + Left Click to lightning
- Free up hotbar slot for Assassins Rush
- Upgrade: Assassins Rush 1

**Wasp Menace**
- Take Quest, leave Guild
- Movement = Rush then Roll, get a feel for the timing
- Go to Picnic Area
- Zap first 2 Wasps, then use the sword on the rest
- Charge Bow while Wasp Queen is summoning Wasps
- Wait for her to spawn more wasps (health threshold)
- Finish her off with your sword

**Protect Orchard Farm**
- Go to Bowerstone (use Will pot on your way)
- Sell 1 Health Potion + all Resurrection Phials
- Buy all Apple Pies + Grain Sacks, Fishing Rod + Spade
- Sell all Apple Pies + Sacks, buy all Will Potions
- If you want more health potions, buy/sell Pies 2x
- Speak to Maze, sell Yew Longbow, buy Ebony Longbow
- Free up hotbar slot, get Ages of Might potion, port back to Guild
- Take Protect Orchard Farm + Boast, head to Orchard Farm (Greatwood Lake entrance)
- In Greatwood Entrance pick up Will Master's Elixir
- 3 waves of 3 bandits, use bow to take care of them all, hit Guards with lightning in berween to sustain the multiplier
- Kill Guards after killing all 9 bandits
- 3x Bow hits on Whisper after flourishing
- 11/12 Multiplier required, use Ages of Might potion at end

**Trader Escort**
- Go to Greatwood Cullis Gate
- Kill first Bandit in Gorge, avoid the rest
- Port back to Guild, take Trader Escort
- Upgrades: Phys 3, Health 3, Speed 2, Magic Power 1, Multi Strike 1, Summon 1, Berserk 1, Rush 2 (set keys on hotbar)
- If you're short on exp, scrap Magic Power 1 or Physique 3 (use Physique 2)
- Go to Chamber of Fate, clip into floor to get Aeons (guide: https://youtu.be/ptmbDpWrNls)
- Port to GW Cullis Gate, get your Summon to kill a Bandit or Hobbe (if there's only wasps, do this in GW Caves)
- Say Yes to first trader, use Rush + Berserk + roll for movement through Entrance, Marshes, Lake
- Kill Yellow Hat + Infected Trader at Camp, enter Ancient Cullis Gate when Red Hat trader starts moving (killing skips dialogue)
- Use Berserk + Multi Strike to kill Earth Troll

**Bandit Camp**
- After finishing quest, dig up + use Golden Carrot (sleep in Oakvale Tavern as backup)
- speak to General trader (don't rush/berserk or you'll scare him)
- Buy/sell Perfume 2x, buy/sell Emeralds to ~47K, buy all potions, speak to Maze
- Go to Clifftop Path, clip gate (guide: https://youtu.be/ptmbDpWrNls)
- Pick up Ages of Skill potion (free up 3x hotbar slots)
- Use Cullis gate to go back to the Guild when you reach Twinblade's camp, pick up quest, return to TB's Camp
- Clip second gate, get Ages of Will pot (backup - kill guy for pass)
- Clip in third map, get Ages of Might pot (backup - pay Assassin)
- in Twinblade fight, Berserk after ~6 seconds, take 1 or 2 hits from Twinblade/Bandits, wait him to jam swords into ground, hit with Berserk + MStrike 2x

**Find The Archaeologist**
- Go back to Guild, sell Ebony Bow, buy Master Longbow + Will Potions (Health Potions optional, don't get if you paid the assassin)
- Speak to Maze, teleport to Witchwood Cullis Gate
- Break bushes, ignore troll, get Ages of Will pot
- Hit stones with bow in order: Front, Back, Left, Right
- You can summon clip the demon door which saves time but it is more difficult

**White Balverine**
- Head to Knothole Glade, port back to Guild as soon as you enter the map
- Take quest, upgrades: Accuracy 2, Multi Arrow 1
- Use Multi Arrow on first 4 balverines (look away to spawn next balverines), make sure you take all the exp
- Hit White Balverine 10x with Lightning, skip scene, go to top of hill, hit White Balverine 10x, skip scene
- When you get the Silver Augmentation, augment the Master Longbow, try to teleport to the Guild and select Reload
- Go back to Knothole Glade and repeat.
- Make sure all your Ages of Might/Skill/Will pots are on your hotbar, and Multi Strike is not up
- Put second Silver on Bow, fire at White Balverine when the bow is fully drawn
- Use pots at 37 multiplier, teleport back to Knothole Glade

**The Arena**
- Take quest, Upgrades: Physique 5, Speed 5, Accuracy 4, Enflame 3, Multi Strike 3, Force Push 3, Physical Shield 2, Berserk 2, Magic Power 4
- Spam Undo Upgrade + D key on Enflame (Hotshot glitch) to level it to Level 4
- Set all binds, go back to Knothole Glade, make way to Arena
- At Arena store, buy all Will Potions
- Wasps = Enflame + Force Push, Hobbes = Enflame, Balverines = Enflame, Bow on White Balverines, Undead = Enflame (2x for larger ones), Bandits = Enflame, Berserk hit archers in last waves + Multi Strike last ones, Earth Troll = Multi Strike hits
- Rock Troll = Multi Strike hits, rush occasionally to reset AI
- Arachanox = Use tutorial to assist with this fight, 2x Multi Strike hits, burrow, 2x Multi Strike hits, burrow, 2x Multi strike hits (link in desc)
- Whisper = Multi Strike hit, wait for her to throw grenades, rush + Multi strike

**Rescue The Archaeologist**
- Go to Barrow Fields after Arena, Grey House. teleport to Guild, take Quest
- Upgrades: Physique MAX, Speed MAX, Accuracy MAX, Magic Power MAX, Multi Strike MAX, Force Push MAX, Slow Time 1/2, Physical Shield 3, Berserk 3, Assassin Rush MAX, Multi Arrow MAX
- If you don't have enough exp, things to skip out on (first to last): Force Push, Multi Arrow (3 is fine), Accuracy (5/6 is fine), Magic Power (5/6 is fine), Physique (6 is fine)
- Teleport to Bowerstone South, go up the stairs into Bowerstone North
- Buy/Sell Diamonds, buy Will Potions, buy Solus Greatsword
- Rush past all minions, force pushing gives breathing room
- In Windmill Hill, break barrel by Dreadwing for Golden Carrot (backup: sleep @ Hook Coast)
- In Prison Path, you must kill the final 2 minions quickly, slow time can help

**Lychfield Graveyard**
- Teleport to Guild, teleport back (puts you at the start of the map)
- Go to Lychfield Graveyard
- Pick up helmet, speak to Gravekeeper, kill him
- Dig up Nostro's Sword, open tomb with Nostro's Armour, fish for Nostro's Shield
- Open Nostro's tomb, avoid all undead in Old Graveyard Path (movement is challenging here)
- Use bow for small undead in the Circle, slow time + 2x Enflame for larger undead

**Bargate Prison**
- Rolling rather than rushing in the tunnels is usually better as undead spawn constantly
- Take right path in the Cliffside Path
- Pick up your mother, make way back
- Don't Force Push after picking up Scarlet Robe the first time (starts dialogue which cancels Berserk)
- Prison is 34 seconds faster in French
- Wait, race, sneaking minigame, rinse and repeat
- After getting the key in your second year, pick up Missing Belongings from Barracks, then Scarlet from Torture Chamber
- For Kraken, Enflame Tentacles (try and hit as many in one hit), then use Multi Arrow shots when the head emerges

**Gateway/Return To Hook Coast**
- After Prison, go to Barrow Fields, make your way to Ancient Cullis Gate
- Before entering Ancient Cullis Gate, use your Golden Carrot
- Enflame all the undead, get as many in a hit as possible
- In Hook Coast, buy Will potions from the General store, then go to Abbey
- After cutscene, go back to the Guild, Maze's quarters, speak to Guildmaster
- Equip Solus Greatsword
- Go back to Hook Coast Abbey, wait for Guildmaster (prepare Berserk, Shield, Multi Strike)

**Try To Stop Jack of Blades**
- After Maze fight, go back to the Guild
- This quest is mostly movement, use Force Push to get breathing room

**Jack of Blades**
- Go to Chamber of Fate, make sure you have at least 2 Multi Arrow shots
- Berserk + Multi Strike Minions + Jack
- If he falls into floor (rare), Enflame him, otherwise 2x Multi Arrow shots
- Kill Theresa for the Sword

**Prophets of the Fire Heart**
- Go back to Guild, upgrade Berserk to Level 4
- Go to Lookout Point, enter Demon Door
- Hold Block key while starting quest (after Quest Start prompt), allows for faster movement during puzzles

**Ship of the Drowned**
- Equip Solus Greatsword again, go to Hook Coast
- Interact with pedestal at the top of the Lighthouse
- Slowtime, hit Summoner with Berserk + Multi Strike hit
- Rush + kill other 2 summoners

**Oracle of Snowspire**
- To fight Ice Troll, Berserk hit until his health threshold, wait until he's punched 12x, start hitting
- Make way to Snowspire
- After entering Snowspire, port to Archon's Shrine, make way to Necropolis
- This part is RNG. Use minimap to look for green dots, interact with the graves to check
- Dig the graves: T. Fung, I. Lovett, Georg W
- Make your way to the end of map, kill minions first, then Summoners
- Go back to Snowspire, speak to Scythe

**Kill Thunder**
- Go to Archon's Shrine, skip scene, go to Knothole Glade
- Punch Thunder, prepare Multi Strike + Berserk
- 2x Berserk + Multi Strike hits

**Kill Briar Rose**
- Go back to Archon's Shrine, Force Push Briar to start fight
- Force Push clones, attack real one

**Killing Nostro**
- After Briar fight, teleport to Lychfield
- Make your way to Old Graveyard Path
- Once you reach the end of the first bridge, teleport to the Guild
- Recall to Old Graveyard Path, interact with door behind you (recalling puts you at the end of the map
- Prepare Sword, Berserk + Multi Strike
- Enflame Undead, hit Nostro (2x hits)

**The Final Battle**
- Teleport to Archon's Shrine, enter Archon's Folly
- For Dragon fight, Berserk, Multi Strike hits, when he prepares attack, either rush for i-frames, or prepare Will Potions.

Setting Up a Virtual Controller for Multiple Input Methods

1. Ensure that no controllers are connected to your system.

2. Download the latest version of vJoy from SourceForge - https://sourceforge.net/projects/vjoystick/files/latest/download 

(Windows 7 users will need an older version, direct link here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vjoystick/files/Beta%202.x/2.1.8.38-190417/vJoySetup.exe/download should work)

3. Run vJoySetup.exe and have all boxes checked during installation. You will probably hear Device Connected/Disconnected sounds repeatedly for a few seconds.

4. Find your installation folder and open vJoy Monitor and vJoy Feeder.

5. Open Steam in Big Picture Mode and in Settings, go to Controller and click Begin Setup.

6. In vJoy Feeder, click on the 1 button to bind the A button to it, and click it again to release it. Do the same thing for the B button with the 2 button. 

7. Press the "A" button to skip binding the other buttons until you get to "Move the left thumbstick up." In vJoy Feeder, set or slide Axis Y too 100, and then set or slide it back down to 50. 

8. Skip the rest of the inputs, and exit Big Picture Mode.

9. You can now set the Y Axis in vJoy Feeder to 75.

10. In Steam, go your game Properties and Enable Steam Input, then click the cogwheel icon and go to Manage, Controller layout, and make sure the Current Layout is the Gamepad template, not Keyboard and Mouse.

11. You can now launch the game through Steam and verify that Assassin Rush moves you in the direction that the camera is facing. If you play the game with DXWnd, having it open while launching through Steam will launch it in a window.  You may need to Alt+Tab and slide the Y Axis down and back up in vJoy Feeder if it doesn't work at first.

TUTORIAL: How to run the game in windowed mode

This is a tutorial on how to get Fable: The Lost Chapters to run in a window. This works for any PC version of the game, including retail and Steam versions.

1.	Download DxWnd ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd ) and extract its contents into a folder of your choice using either 7-Zip on WinRAR. Alternatively, download the file from the resources section of https://speedrun.com/fabletlc  

2.	Once extracted, run the DxWnd.exe file, and right click anywhere on the blank area, then select Add.

3.	In the new window, the name doesn’t matter too much, just call it Fable or something so you know what it is from an icon.  

4.	For both path and launch, click the three dots besides the text box and point to fable.exe, which should be in the base Fable folder wherever you installed it (e.g. if you used Steam, it will be INSTALL\steam\steamapps\common\Fable The Lost Chapters\Fable.exe). It is the same for both, so locate the file for one, then copy and paste the same thing into the other.

5.	Under Position, you can use the X and Y coordinates to set the location of the window on the monitor. You should also set the resolution to whatever you have set it to in the in-game options for Fable. (e.g. if you play Fable in 1080p, set the W to 1920 and the H to 1080)  
Note: whatever resolution you set the game to, the main menu will be at 1024x768, which can cause some distortion if you have not set the W and H to 1024x768; this will fix itself once in-game.   

6.	Under Video, change the 'Window style' from Default to Thick Frame/Thin Frame (this prevents scaling issues). If you would like to run in a borderless window, under Video change the ‘window style’ from ‘default’ to ‘modal’.  

7.	Under the Input tab at the top, change ‘Window size & position’ from ‘Autom.’ to ‘Hide’, and under Cursor Handling, tick ‘Keep cursor within window’ and ‘Keep cursor fixed’.

8.	Once done, click OK, go to File, then Save. A window will appear saying ‘Task list has changed. Do you want to save it?’. Click Yes, and you are done! To run the game in a window from here, simply double click the icon in DxWnd to launch the game.

TUTORIAL: Setting Up a "New Game +" Profile

Make a profile as normal. Hero Save as soon as you load into the game. Progress through Oakvale until the Bandits raid, then Hero Save in a new slot. Once the save completes, load that save slot.

One of two things should happen after loading:

1) You will be warped straight to the Guild.

2) You will have to progress through Oakvale again until the game warps you to the Guild.

The game should be stuck in Hero Save only state, as if perpetually on a quest. Confirm this by checking after completing the Guild Training segment. From this point, you can go about gaining Experience. 

Note that you retain Physique, Health, Toughness, Speed, Accuracy, Guile, and Magic Power levels, as well as any Health/Mana increases from Elixirs of Life and Willmaster Elixirs. Spells are not retained, but all Experience points carry over allowing you to learn spells. Non-Weapon and Non-Armor items like potions, food, trophies and miscellaneous items like Spade, Fishing Rods, and Silver Keys will carry over. Gold will carry over.

FINAL NOTE: The prepared file will not have an activated Guild Cullis Gate. This means you will have to warp to Bowerstone South every time you return to the Guild and will be UNABLE to progress beyond entering Hook Coast, as you're required to go directly to the Guild but lack the ability to do so. That's why the run stops after completing the Arena.
