Emulator runs of Legacy of Darkness.

I noticed that none of the runs on the boards currently are done with an emulator. I've asked around and been told that emulator saves time vs. console via having significantly less lag. Is this true?

It would be a shame not to allow emulator runs if they're faster; speedrunners do like to go fast and not everyone can afford consoles and/or hard copies of a game. Still, if there's a big difference between console and emulator than I'd say they shouldn't share a board. What are the chances that emulators could get their own section on here that would separate them from console runs?

I would be more than happy to add an emu leaderboard. it's been sort of in the talks before but there were very very few runs and no one actively doing emu runs. I'll have them up either tonight or tomorrow! Also, I highly recommend checking out our discord if you have an interest running this game. I like to think we have a pretty cool community :)

Alright, added the option to submit Emulator runs with the following ruling:

"Emulators are banned from having an official time due to inconsistencies with lag. Runs on emu can still be added but will be hidden by default and not considered official. It is recommend that while learning the game you obtain official hardware to compete on the leaderboards."

I've been nagging about this in the discord channel and with no happy results. I would consider learning this with emulation, but until the community can remove that rule and instead add "emu" as a sub-category for console a.k.a

Then I don't see myself even touching this game.. I live in PAL regions and it's too much off a hassle and of a cost to get a hold of everything needed to run this game just because the community itself are so anti-emulation. There is just no good reason NOT to open the doors up for emulation runners on a separate category, hell if SM64 which is far more popular and picky about lag accuracy - are willing to open that window up... Just my two cents >_>

Why hide the emu runs and phrase the rules in an elitist douchey way instead of just moving them over to a separate category?

Sorry for replying to this so late. I was unaware people were unhappy with the state of Emulator runs on the leaderboard. I never meant to have it set up to be elitist at all and typically don't get many requests regarding Emulator runs. I'll adjust the leaderboards and rules accordingly and post here when I have things changed.

If you have any leaderboard questions in the future feel free to contact me directly either on the Discord or on Twitter.

Got rid of the old Emulator ruling that was put in place earlier this year. All Emu runs can be submitted via they own set of leaderboards now. If you have any questions or change requests please let me know. I would never try to intentionally push people away from running this game.

Cheers, Slucky
