Hey there. I want to attempt speedrunning Cuphead a bit, but I'm actually curious as to what peoples controller configurations are. I'd like to try some other peoples configs to see if I like theirs more than my own.

i play cuphead with keyboard, should i get a controller

1 - You SHOULD not but anything. There's no controller that is objectively better than another, you play with what feels more comfortable to you.

2 - Same goes for control schemes, but since you are asking for suggestions: I play with shooting on L1 and dash on Square on a PS4 controller, but I'm focused on run n gun levels, so my scheme is not the best for WSG, it's focused on dash controlling.

I use an Xbox One Elite controller. I jumo with A and dash with X. Right trigger shoots, left uses Super/EX moves. Right bumper locks, left one swaps weapons
