Timing Rules

Hello! Thanks for creating the board. I wanted to call out something to see if people had thoughts on start time. It seems like most have been starting time on Character Select vs Difficulty Select for when the game starts. This will probably be even more important when it comes to Co-op runs as well.

Also I'm speaking specifically on behalf the NES runs/runners, unsure of how the other version works.

I think it'd be best to have it start on the first frame you take control of the player(s) and have it end on the last hit on the final boss.

I have been starting the timer the second I choose the character for the first time, I don't know if that will work or not for others but that has been what I have been doing

@Stevetonline I think that's when you should press the hotkey to start the timer, but with an added delay so the timer starts the frame you take control of the player.

I am welcome to having a discussion regarding timing in the discord. I feel like choosing the character is a part of the run, similar to how Super Mario Bros. 2 starts on new game, and not on first character selection. That is why I put the starting time where I did.

Suriname

user friendly = character select for the start, fade out for the end.
