ESPN X Games Skateboarding Trick Guide

Repeating a move in the same run causes the point value to drop each time until you’ve done it 5 times, where the point value will always be the lowest (10%). Performing a move in switch stance does not give extra points (it gives the same scores as regular), but it is treated as a separate trick (with separate point staling) compared to doing it regular. Every skater has 1 unique trick, and in most cases, I think these tricks have the same point value as the trick they replace. Exceptions to this are the Burn Twist and possibly Lincoln Ueda’s Stinky Grab?

Bugs: Doing an F/S Smith will cause your skater to nollie instead of doing an ollie (unless you buffer a flip immediately?). You cannot do anything after a nollie in this game. When doing multiple grinds on the same rail or ledge, you cannot predict whether your grind will be B/S or F/S. For this reason, I recommend never inputting a smith grind. Sometimes grind names are yellow as if you did a special move (instead of green). These ones are worth far more points. I have no idea why/how special grinds occur.

During a 1-minute Vert run, you get no more than 15 airs. In both X Games Park and Vert, the best judge score is 99.75.

Grinds (points increase as you grind and the score increase is proportional to the base score)

  • Triangle | 50-50 | 120
  • Triangle | Disaster Slide | 200 (land on rail halfway through a 180)
  • Up Triangle | Smith | 180
  • Down Triangle | 5-0 | 216
  • Left Triangle | Blunt | 240
  • Right Triangle | Tail | 140

Grinds also give less points as you repeat them, but I have not tested the point values.

Plants

  • Triangle | Handplant | 1450 – 1200 – 950 – 700 – 550
  • Up Triangle | Sad Plant | 1450 – 1200 – 950 – 700 – 550
  • Left Triangle | Rock’n Roll | 1350 – 1100 – 850 – 600 – 450
  • Right Triangle | Burn Twist* | 2056 – 1806 – 1506 –1206 – 906

*Note: Burn Twist is a move exclusive to Bob Burnquist. It is the only plant that cannot be held and the only plant that changes your stance.

All Super Moves are worth 6000 points and you can only build enough special meter in a 1-minute run to perform it once. However, some characters have super moves that have spins built into them (like the 900 or McTwist), which means you can’t spin while performing them. For this reason, in high score runs, I would avoid using Colin McKay and Lincoln Ueda (Rodeo is spinnable but you get 1 fewer 180).

Super Move Names

  • Bob Burnquist – Kick Flip Lazy Boy
  • Chris Senn – Kick Flip Body Varial
  • Colin McKay – 720 Judo
  • Kerry Getz – Double Kick Flip 180
  • Carlos De Andrade – Double Back Foot Impossible
  • Lincoln Ueda – Rodeo Flip
  • Chad Fernandez – Double Front Foot Impossible
  • Rick McCrank – Hard Late Flip
