hey guys, just thought i'd give an update on some findings from recently.
back when the game first came out there was a small conception that jp would be faster since in other games, japanese and other similar languages are faster than eng generally due to faster scrolling text/less text boxes. since this game has a fair amount of dialogue in it, it was thought that jp would be faster.
but nobody really ran it with jp (other than jp runners, obviously) because many microgames are heavily based around what text is used, specifically the kat and ana boss. but @Rubiks made a document a few months ago of all the text translations that would need to be used for a run (here it is if anyone needs it for something https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/590560089170116640/902963605899706388/jpn_translation_warioware_get_it_together.txt ). this allowed people to manage games that required text without completely knowing jp for everything. however, there still wasn't really anyone that ran with jp (once again, outside of jp runners).
it wasnt until a few days ago when @Firesplitter completed an any% run with jp. it mostly only used the kat and ana translations to pass the boss, but it still showed that it was possible to complete a run with jp without completely knowing everything. there was one catch though, thrill ride would be brutal for anyone running without knowing jp. due to the player having absolutely no room for error in any of the microgames, if you ever got a quiz-type microgame that required the use jp, it would be near impossible to navigate the document and process everything before the microgame is over and you lose a massive amount of time.
but it was found out that due to the way that dialogue works in this game, jp doesnt actually really make a big or even actual difference at all. the only place where we though potentially there could be a massive difference was the dialogue after completing any%. but when i frame counted my mashing against nao's mashing for that section, i found out that its the exact same speed
so as it turns out, jp is actually not faster for this game! so if you're on eng, do not worry about having to constantly manage translations/memorize everything for a better time.
that's all i've got, have fun with the wario game

if you haven’t seen the other article on this cutscene you can view it here: https://www.speedrun.com/wwgit/news/203
due to there not really being a complete solution for physical players and efforts to add/subtract time could be complicated, we’ve decided to ban the usage of closing out of the game to skip the postgame transition cutscene.
as a result, “The usage of closing and reopening the game during the transition to postgame cutscene to skip it is banned” has been added to the unlock all characters rules.
thank you for your time.

for the past month and a half this game has been out, it's been believed that you could not skip any cutscenes in this game at all. in gold you could just skip cutscenes on a new file as long as you have watched them all at least once on a separate file, however since the switch has profiles it simply does not work like that anymore through a first playthough. so we all just lived on without skipping any cutscenes, and i mean its fine for people like me since the cutscenes are awesome in this game
however a few hours ago nao found that you can skip one cutscene.
essentially, since we tried closing out and going back into the game on other cutscenes before and they didnt work, we thought that that would apply to every cutscene. however this cutscene is unique as its mostly just a transition to the postgame. since it's not tied to a character or anything, you can just quit out and skip it.
now you'd think there wouldnt be an issue with this, but theres actually one big issue. the difference between the loading time form quitting out on physical compared to digital is around 15-20 seconds. now this is a HUGE amount of time for this game, considering wrs are typically only by a few seconds and playing on physical will only save 50 seconds with this cutscene skip, while digital can save around 1:10. so this puts physcial players at a large disadvantage compared to digital. so this puts the skip in kind of a gray area
so, what should we do about it? do we allow it and let physical players always lose 15-20s to something out of their control? should we ban it and remove a big timesave from our game? should we add a time subtraction/addition to digital/physical players? please give us your feedback.
