Hi, I'm running on one of the later patches, and it doesn't have a "The End" screen like the earlier copies do. How would I go about timing my run in this case?
After months of work from Timba, Claire, and myself, we are proud to present the unofficial category extensions for Super Mario Galaxy.
The board currently features categories such as Cometless, All Purple Coins, All Main Stars, and quite a few more.
The rules for the categories, the leaderboards showing the runs, how to submit your runs, and how to contact Timba, Claire, or me, are all on this document:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-jQTJOKbxH_yUUmN0--oOJDVvuOG9t4KZTRPIk3lBNE/edit?usp=sharing
If you have ideas for other categories, don't hesitate to post it in this forum thread or in the discord. We ask that at least one run of the proposed category has been completed before asking for it to be created.
If you have any questions, you can either ask in this thread or DM Timba, Claire, or myself.
If you have a custom level for Super Mario Odyssey that you want to be added to this leaderboard, here's the thread to post it in.
In order to request a custom level, you need to post a request in this thread that contains:
-The name of the level. -Link at least a video of one full game run of the level.

Thanks.
For those unaware, the leaderboard for True Pacifist and Neutral was given subcategories based on versions 1.00-1.04 and 1.05+ to reflect the version differences.
We did our best to move the runs over, but it'd be appreciated if you guys can look through your runs and tell us if your run is in the wrong subcategory based on the version your run was done in.
If you have any questions, let us know!

It seems that the majority of runners of this game no longer run or haven't ran this for a very long time, but it's still worth a shot: Does this game have a discord for speedrunning?
This tournament is a double-elimination bracket, and it will be starting August 20th.
This will be hosted by SpeedGaming.
The tournament is designed to encourage new runners to pick the game up and well as provide a friendly competition between the veteran runners. To do this, we will be stealing Oracle of Seasons' idea and holding weekly races on Saturday to help prepare all of the participating runners.

Hello! I'm not a runner, but I saw that no one had posted it in in the forums and figured I'd spread awareness.
This tournament is a double-elimination bracket. It will be starting some time at the end of August.
This tournament is designed to encourage new runners to pick up the game, so every weekend after SGDQ, the community will be holding races in order for new runners to be able to learn the game and practice before they enter the tournament.
If you have any more questions, refer to these links, especially the discord server:

I'm attempting to learn the original release version. I deleted the save file in AppData/Local/Oneshot, and there was nothing when I looked through Regedit. It still doesn't reset the game to the original state it was in.
Am I missing something?
As the title suggests, I'm not new-I've been speedrunning for about 2 and a half years at this point, and I've been using the forums actively for about half a year, maybe more. I've never officially greeted myself, so hello.
I'm a teenaged girl who likes to run RPGs, 3D platformers, and occasionally 2D platformers. Speedrunning has become a very important part of my life, and quite frankly I can not imagine where I'd be without it. I hope I retain the passion I have to be apart of this community and continue running for several more years to come.
Most of our opinions will be the same as far as video proof goes but I'm curious on what everyone thinks about splits being required if the run doesn't have any video proof.
