Hello, everyone
I just wanted to inform recent runners of the game that I just made a leaderboard split between the Web and PC versions of Samorost 1. I made this change due to the potential timesaves and/or timelosses between the two different engines.
I have moved all of the PC version runs to their respective subcategory, and runners must now select which version they performed their run on in the run submission form.
Thank you, plank
As there is technically no explicit percentage for completion in this game, I don't see why there needs to be % at the end of every category. They are arbitrary since there isn't a conclusive way of finding the percentage of which the game is completed after completing a category such as Game Over, or 10/10.
Basically there's no need for % in the names of the categories if the game doesn't explicitly state that you have completed this percentage of the game by doing certain tasks

Questioning the verifiability of this run done in the 4 Player NG+ category. The video provided is only 10 minutes long and is essentially a highlight montage of their run, with the majority of the full run being lost due to cuts. Am I missing something like a full VOD somewhere?
Why was this run verified? It literally breaks the whole point of valid video proof; video submissions are supposed to show the entire run without any cuts or missing footage.
I request this run gets taken down unless it can somehow be proven legitimate (for example, a mod witnessed the full run live, etc.)
hi, i'd like to request a cover change for this page, just because the image resolution looks a little stretched horizontally. i would recommend using this icon for the cover since it won't stretch.
ergaeegr segrgraegraeggr?
thanks
I feel like this would be a good category since the wall clips start to get more dull as more runs are done. The addition of an "Any% No Wall Clips" category would be a great idea, just because beating the game properly without cheesing your way through it sounds more fun, and I am assuming that Any% would get dull due to all the wall clips.
Let me know if it sounds like a good idea!
Hey there, I would just like to let the mods know that there is a PC version of this game which is vastly different from the GBC version. Just so runners don't get confused, I would specify that this speedrun.com page has a GBC label next to the name, like this: Elmo in Grouchland (GBC)
In case somebody wanted to add the PC version of this game to speedrun.com, this way there would be no confusion.
Thank you!
While testing out some path select combinations in the debug mode, @SubmarineCpt and I found out that having the History Report in the Old West is faster than having the Calculator in the Old West, since you have to get the keys, then you have to go through the cutscene where you have to select the key to open the chest. Then, you have to click the chest once you click the correct key, which has a cutscene that can be partially skipped; you can see this in a typical Any% route that has the Calculator in Old West. Since the Calculator couldn't be placed in the Old West anymore, we decided to put it in Dinoland, since with good RNG it could be fast as well. Submarine and I decided to make these changes because we have been doing some Any% Random Seed races for the past day, getting close to seeing every single combination that this game can offer.
Overall, this new route saves time over the typical Any% route because History Report in Old West is much faster than getting the Calculator instead. Also, if given good RNG, the Calculator in Dinoland can save time over getting the Calculator in the Old West. Mainly, the overall time saved not having to get the keys in Gold River, and opening the chest in Hubcap HIll. Instead, we take the wire cutters in the Rock Mine, and save Virgil Clyde in Hubcap Hill, then going to the General Store, and taking the History Report on the window. The save file, for non steam only, will be provided in the Resources tab for this speedrun.com page.
I would like to know an estimate on how much time the route @Meep_Moop used in his current PB saves over my PB. This would be very much appreciated!
For hell%, when you dig and land on bloodstone, does that count as a valid run? I am digging to the surface of hell in record time and I land on bloodstone, but can't see the lava and I am not falling towards the surface. Would this count as a valid hell% run if you dig to the surface of hell by having one block of bloodstone visible? Thank you.
I have wanted to get into running this game recently, but the problem is that all of the animations in the game are slower than the animations that the runners on the leaderboard have. When in a minigame, which I select a ball, the ball moves across very slowly, and the balls circle around Elmo not nearly as fast as the leaderboards. All together, my disadvantage makes me slower than all of the runners on the leaderboard. Any help is appreciated! I play on the BGB emulator, and use the USA version of the game.
So I have been trying to run this game for a little bit. I always run this game in offline mode on steam, and I do runs in the level view. After I complete a level, I get the message "Submitting score. Please wait." This message can last for 5-10 seconds and I have no clue what to do to end this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I think there should be a category where you're supposed to complete 2 rounds of the game. I'm still not sure about hoe many rounds are in total, but anyways I think there should be a category for completing two rounds
