It gets pretty RNG to lower times further. Theres a few tricks on a few of the bosses that can save some time too. If you want to discuss anything about the run/game join the discord link attached to the game page on Speedrun.com
Ive been looking over runs and despite the rules saying timing ends on the Pakkun load screen after the fight, most of the actual runs posted stop their timer before the load screen. Skipatrolslayer tends to end on the black screen with one line of text before the pakkun load screen and BlaGe ends their runs after the last hit on the final battle. This is frustrating because I am following the rules, but I am a disadvantage because I stop my time later on.
Oh wow after missing record by 14 seconds and the losing in the final stage my next attempt i decided to actually watch WR and its shown me 2 small changes to implement
Oh my bad i thought the full game completion category was starting on easy mode and ending after beating very hard mode
If possible can you at a EFF and Zeon NG+ all missions category. I was doing some routing for the EFF NG+ all missions run and I think I came up with a good route for the run and I wanted to run it this weekend at some point. Very hard only of course
I appreciate it for considering some of the changes. Keeping it as Low % is fine with me. Im glad you did change it to allow more than just the intro and last missions. I definitely think the earliest date is good. I did a run of Zeon on easy and a NG+ run of normal and found that regardless of what missions you do it is impossible to unlock the final mission any sooner. It is linked to date unfortunately so the category may have to be scrapped for Zeon but im sure we can come up with an alternative category for Zeon.
I get that the game doesn't have a big following though but i definitely appreciate you being open to suggestion. I also started with a game series that has next to no following and I understand that having another person take interest in the game can have a very positive effect. I have a large amount of knowledge on the gamecube Zoids VS series and literally no one else besides me cares about the game. It can be tough but I plan on being a big part of this community so let me know if you need help with anything and we can bounce some ideas off of each other on how to improve the game further and maybe also bring some more exposure to the series
Oh no worries I get that life gets in the way of things. I just wanted to bring up my opinions on it and Ill definitely be an active member going forwards. I appreciate you taking the time to actually consider my concerns and I will do what I can to assist in things like figuring out what kind of missions constitute story missions and such, although with Zeon it is pretty arbitrary since missions are based on the date rather than completion.
I have been playing Gundam Crossfire since its release, I have beaten both stories on all difficulties multiple times, and overall have a ton of experience with the game. I'm waiting on my capture card to come in before I can start running the game. The issue is that I feel like the categories have some major problems.
First of all, Low % should be renamed to Any %. The reason games like Megaman and Metroid have Low % categories are because those runs are slower than Any %. Since there is no Any % category, there cannot be a Low %. Also, if there was an Any % category it would be the exact same as Low %, at least for EFF. Zeon Low % is borderline impossible because the Zaku II does not have access to beam rifle, which is arguably the best weapon in the game. At the same time, it wouldn't be a big deal since it does get access to the rocket launcher, but it lacks any kind of vulcan or other secondary to deal with aircrafts. The Zaku II is much weaker than the GM. It can only take 2 or 3 shots fully upgraded on easy mode from the end game EFF mobile suits to destroy it. It wouldnt be a big deal if you could purchase a better Zeon MS, but due to Low % restrictions, its impossible to purchase a better MS that might actually be able to clear Mining Base Defense because of the lack of available funds. Even if someone managed to successfully complete a "Low %" run on Zeon, it would still be the same as an Any % run. The point is, I don't have an issue with the run itself, I just think that the rules should be less restrictive and the category needs to be renamed.
Secondly, the story mission categories are redundant. You aren't required to clear any of the "Story missions" to progress the story, and even the so called "Optional Missions" are still tied to the story, so really, either all of the missions are story missions, or none of the missions other than the intro mission and the final mission are story missions. Also, there is still no definitive answer as to what is a story mission and what isn't a story mission in the rules. That makes it impossible to know what Zeon missions are required for a "Story mission" speedrun. I understand that there is the 14 missions in 14 days run for EFF, but i believe that should be in its own misc category. Its not really based off of what missions are required and more just based off of the shortest number of days required to beat EFF story.
I think it should just be Any % and All Missions as the main runs, separated by difficulty and New Game+, with any other potential runs being a misc category run. To be clear, I have no issues with the All Missions category. I don't mean this as a sleight to anyone, I understand the game really doesn't have any kind of legitimate following, and no one has ever expressed this kind of point before regarding the categories, but I do think these changes would clear up a lot of confusion regarding the speedruns.
It was on US version mustve missed marking it down
I have created different categories for EMU and console due to the game running noticeably different. EMU sometimes hits 60 fps in battles whereas console does not at any time
Im the Zoids Battle Legends WR holder and yesterday I played Zoids VS for the first time. Im genuinely shocked by how much easier it is and I will be doing attempts for all 4 categories, starting with Empire Story. I will do Republic story next then go for Battle Mode, before finally grinding until I can get all 3 Ultra Z parts before attempting the NG+ record. I will be starting this journey tonight.
The thing about emulator is it does have a big effect on load times and overall lag but with no community and being an obscure title most people wouldnt have access to it. Also story mode is so much harder with reduced lag. No more first frame dodges on get up.
@starsmiley sorry I thought I had already but I have enabled it and confirmed it is enabled. My apologies
Hi I submitted a new run to Zoids Battle Legends URL https://www.speedrun.com/zoids_battle_legends but the moderator hasnt been online in 2 years so I would like to take over as moderator please, as no new runs have been posted in 5 years.
