I am stepping down as the head moderator of Epic Battle Fantasy. I frankly don't have the responsiblity or commitment to be a good mod. I only ended up as one because I like submitted it to be a game on speedrun.com because it wasn't before, and then I set up the whole series with all the games. After that, I neglected this website for a long time, and I still don't hardly ever go on it.
tldr; I'm stepping down as a mod because I'm never here.
I'm thinking we might need to split the Any% (and maybe 100%) category into Any% and Any% Glitchless, seeing as a glitch was discovered to trick the game into thinking you're playing a different level than you actually are, allowing you to play a shorter level than the longer one the game actually thinks you're playing. I don't know when I'll do this, probably soon, but if anyone has any problems or thoughts with this decision, let me know, I'll try to check back here before I actually do it. For now I'm just verifying runs that use this glitch
I might be interested in this 🤔 I had uploaded a video some hours ago of me completing a big rock climb in about 26 minutes. I wasn't exactly speedrunning it, I was just happy to beat it lol, but I think some of the more popular rooms (Rec Rock Climbing, Test Parkour v2, Sky High Climbing) might get some attention, though it's true that popularity can change overnight. Though personally, I feel like one problem to address with it if that were to happen is: what would be the consistent thing between most if not all rock climb courses for stopping the timer?
Also just on the subject, maybe other "popular" story based community rooms could have places in the sub-games category, for example, Tomb Heist or Quest of Ninja.
Actually it's just to the main ebf discord, yeah? I'll add it.
3 years late, but why not? It's really different but do whatever you want.
I'm 3 years late, and it looks like i did make it a thing but I should've really responded to this at some point. Apologies.
hey, sorry for only just seeing this, and I honestly not sure how to address this, I'm gonna leave it for now but if someone thinks i should change it I can.
and honestly when i set this series up 3 years ago i really didn't have any idea what i was doing, i wanna take this more seriously now though.
Looking at it, I think Crow did end his timer late, i'll change it to 18:04 as opposed to 18:06
16yo me doesn't know how to manage a game on this site. I think it'd be best if it was split up into "unrestricted" and "epic" if people really wanted to play normal or hard they could, though i imagine easy would be faster anyway. I see where Crow is coming from with those being the only two meaningful difficulties, but I'll think on it, and leave this thread open for now.
As for any timing errors, I'm sorry, I'll look into it, though I hope that it's been dealt with already.
Out of all my 2 year old posts i cringe at this decision the most. 16yo me didn't know what he was doing. I'm gonna change it so any% is unrestricted, i doubt the higher difficulties would be much faster anyway, in fact if they were any% (epic) might as well be removed. Locking this and I'll update the difficulty to be unrestricted.
I probably should've seen this and fixed it when it happened, sorry about that. Locking this thread.
I haven't looked at these threads in forever, and if I had seen this sooner I might've implemented it, but I think that's already been done with that 7 minute time, so I don't know if there's much I can do about it. Sorry.
me from 2 years ago doesn't know how to handle a forum, yeesh. I'm locking this thread. 2 years late but oh well.
i haven't so much as glanced at these forums in 2 years, and im cringing at the decisions 16yo me made. Can you give an invite that doesn't expire so i can add it?
What about dlc characters? It'd be different for people who have all the dlc, and people without any dlc. Should be a variable on the all star categories imo. Unless all dlc characters are required anyway?
looking over the differences from the link, i'll just say, screw it why not, new categories. it would probably make 100% completely different, while any% dont think that would change to much.
some differences are substantial enough to warrant a different category, therefore it will happen.
one thing to note is that the steam version has a NG+ so that might also become a different category.
So its been a while since ive been on the forums, and i found this just now... sorry for the delay.
You see, I believed at the time 100% always means "Get everything possible no matter how long it takes," which is certainly not an optimal thing to think when it comes to speedrunning, therefore i am removing the fact that you have to get any medals at all in 100% as i agree playing the game 3 times over is kinda ridiculous. As for the suggestion of "All Chests" I think it isnt a bad idea, though this category probably wont end with beating the final boss, but instead opening the last chest. I'll sort it all out as quick as I can, thanks for your patience.
There are 2 types of any% runs, [Any%] which you can have any difficulty, but Epic. The other is [Any% (Epic)]
I say "but Epic" because if i include it, and someone gets WR for [Any%] and it was set to Epic difficulty, it would probably get put in both categories. So it would just be the same run twice.
If it says "(Epic)" or "(Heavenly)" that means the difficulty should be set to that difficulty, otherwise, you may have it set to any difficulty you want... but that difficulty.
