TAS is 1 key, the first can be skipped with Moat Skip. But Moat Skip is completely impossible RTA, you have to do basically hundreds of fast, frame-perfect inputs, hold exact angles on the joystick, etc. But yes, Krithalith did do the first part of Moat Skip RTA, but it's the only part that doesn't require any of those ridiculous inputs. All the rest of it is completely impossible RTA.

@crabstorage @Yopmemama2019 Okay, there have been a lot of comments here, for easy reference here's my opinion on what should be changed with the rules:

120 Star: No changes

70 Star: Allow BLJs. Probably also add a "70 Star No BLJ" category extension

16 Star: Require MIPS clip.

1 Star: Require skipping the 30 star door. Ban MIPS clip.

0 Star: No changes.

Colorado, USATurkeyCookTime4 months ago

@Yopmemama2019 And that brings me back to the problem I have with the 16 and 1 star rules. The fact that MIPS clip isn't required means you could just do a 31, 50, 70, or 120 star run and count it as "16 star" or "1 star". It's not within the spirit of the category. Like my SBLJ example, imagine you are doing 16 star for the first time, after tons of effort and practice, you are finally, after a couple of hours, able to do MIPS clip and the BLJs. Then you go on the leaderboard, and your time is beaten by a bunch of people who just did a regular 70 star playthrough with little effort. There should be a rule that the 30-star door MUST be skipped.

Colorado, USATurkeyCookTime4 months ago

@Yopmemama2019 You can get past the 30 star door without SBLJ or MIPS. It's called "collect 30 stars". It's not "skipping" the door, so it's still allowed in the rules.

Colorado, USATurkeyCookTime4 months ago

@crabstorage Okay, I just noticed you edited your reply. I see how the 1-star rules make more sense now. The fact that 120-star runs are still allowed in 1 star still seems like it's not within the spirit of the category. Like someone could spend several hours, finally pulling off the extremely hard SBLJ after lots of effort, and they're beaten on the leaderboard by a bunch of people who just did an easy 70 or 16 star run with little to no effort. While I agree there shouldn't be a rule requiring SBLJ, there should at least be rules requiring that the 30-star door must be skipped, and MIPS clip is banned.

Given that the only reason 16-star runs are 16 stars in the first place is because of MIPS, it really feels like MIPS clip should be required. If a 16-star run doesn't use MIPS, what's the point?

My BLJs question still stands. 70-star rules already ban skipping any star door. No BLJs is just an additional, unnecessary rule.

Colorado, USATurkeyCookTime4 months ago

16-star category rules say "Any method to skip the 30 star door other than MIPS Clip is banned". Nowhere does it say that MIPS Clip is required. My question still stands.

70 star rules already have a "no circumventing star requirements" rule, so you can't skip the upstairs no matter what glitches are allowed. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about in-level BLJs like Toxic Maze BLJ. Why is Pillarless allowed but Toxic Maze BLJ not? It's completely arbitrary. If 70 is supposed to be a "no major glitches" category, why are Bomb Clip and Pillarless allowed. Surely those would count as major glitches.

Colorado, USATurkeyCookTime4 months ago

Currently, the 120 and 0 star categories are the only ones that specify a required star count. None of the others do. So by the current rules, you can submit 120, 70, and 16 star runs in the 1 star category. Is this how it's supposed to be? It really isn't in the spirit of a 1-star run to collect every star. I understand not saying a specific star count, like a 16-star run should still be valid if you accidentally collect the MIPS star, but it really seems like there should be more rules, like requiring MIPS clip for 16 star and SBLJ for 1 star to avoid having runs that really shouldn't be on the leaderboard.

Also, somewhat related, I feel like the "No BLJs" rule in 70-star is kind of weird? I understand that it's there because that's how 70-star runs have always been done, but nowadays it feels really arbitrary, especially when things like Bomb Clip and Pillarless are still allowed.

Maybe horses and other mounts should be banned as well. I'm still figuring out the details.

Maybe Tu Ka'loh Shrine shouldn't be completed beforehand, that way you would have to do the labyrinth shrine quest in the run. There's also the possibility of a Hia Miu to Korgu Chideh version (northwest-southeast) where you have to do the Eventide shrine quest.

Colorado, USATurkeyCookTime6 months ago

This is starting from a completed file of course, and any preparation beforehand would be allowed.

I just came up with this idea, I don't know if it's any good. (Don't have a name for it yet).

Basically, crossing the entire map as fast as possible. Timing starts on the first frame of movement when exiting Hawa Koth Shrine (far southwest) and ends when entering Tu Ka'loh Shrine (far northeast). Teleporting, major glitches, and master cycle are banned.

It's possible to beat this level in about 10 seconds, all you have to do is click the X button and click "yes". If you do it too fast, you get forced out of the level and don't get the Level Complete text, the best I have been able to do is about 15 seconds.

(Reposted here since I accidently put this in the main BOTW forum)

Beat the game without using any stamina. If the stamina wheel appears during gameplay, reload the previous save.

For reference, these are actions that use stamina:

Running Climbing Gliding Swimming Charging an attack (including using a fast spin attack) Entering bullet time mid-air Taming a horse Mounting a Lynel Pushing heavy objects

These restrictions remove the possibility of using windbombs, BTBs, and other glitches, so it would be significantly different than a regular Any% run. In addition, both leaving the Shrine of Resurrection and getting the final hit on Dark Beast Ganon require workarounds that you really wouldn't see in any other runs.

I don't think that goombas falling off the edge should count for two reasons.

1: Often, the goomba will despawn before it hits the death barrier, so it wouldn't actually die.

2: In THI, if a goomba falls off the edge, but you switch islands and switch back, the goomba will still be there, proving that goombas don't die when falling off the edge.

SMG2 All Comet Medals

Basically, from a completed file, collect all 49 comet medals. You can pause and exit after each collection (you don't need to collect any stars). Timing ends on the last comet medal touch. You don't have to collect them in order.

(Starts from a completed file because otherwise, you would have to collect 240 stars to unlock Grandmaster Galaxy and it would basically be 100% without the final two stars.)

(I know there's a thread for submitting categories, but I just wanted to see people's opinions first.)

IMO it makes more sense to kill all three Big Boos and both Big Bullies - it just seems incomplete.

Colorado, USATurkeyCookTime3 years ago

That sounds interesting since you would have to get the 100 coin stars by themselves. Also, what would you do about the secret stars? Would those just be allowed to get at any time?

Colorado, USATurkeyCookTime3 years ago

Well there could be a "max% no grabbing" which would mean:

BoB - Every star except King Bob-omb and Koopa the Quick WF - Every star JRB - Every star CCM - Every star except the little penguin BBH - Every star Secret stars: 2 slide stars, Aquarium, Wing Cap, and Dark World Reds.

Alternatively, there could possibly be a "max% no B button" which would be almost the same except that you could get the little penguin star by using the vertical wind. It would also be a lot more interesting since you wouldn't be able to dive, jump kick, or slide kick.
