This is probably easier than the code.

Hi everyone, it's crazy to see all the submissions in only the first few days of the official leaderboards being created! If anyone has any questions or suggestions regarding the leaderboards, the speedrun, or just game elements (e.g. spawns), feel free to post here. A moderator or member of the community will get back to you asap.
Here's the run: Took a few attempts to learn everything, but I think it came out alright.
Before adding Kraken% onto the leaderboards, we were skeptical because without knowledge of the route, it sounded like a rerouted Harvest Lord%. As we tested the potential category, we soon realized how unique it could be--storm isn't viable and the category skips over defeating Judd. After Kraken% got added, the categories you have listed seem very much more possible as categories to be ran in the speedrunning community. Sadly, the hesitation to add those categories comes with the current community size. I believe VGP, Malamber, and I are worried about overflowing the leaderboards with categories that don't get the deserved attention they need. For now, I think adding one or two other miscellaneous categories would be a good idea just to have more variety. It would be nice to have them accessible for all players (free areas) and some famous/unique qualities.
The category that I believe should be added at this time is Lady Blackhope%. After running it earlier, I can conclude that it's amazing. The run is significantly shorter than Unicorn Way% (4 minutes) and only has 5 battles (Souls, Pirates, and Lady Blackhope). This means that we will likely finally have a category that becomes EVEN MORE OPTIMIZED than Unicorn Way. On top of this, Lady Blackhope is one of the most famous side-bosses in Wizard101--maybe not as much as the Kraken, but close!
Please consider adding Lady Blackhope% to the miscellaneous tab! Thanks!
This category should really be a thing.
Here's why:
- Colossus Boulevard is the first street that offers a 1 wizard: 2 enemy battle ratio for every battle, giving runners more of a challenge.
- Colossus Boulevard enables the runner to achieve level 10, giving them the option to spell-strategize further than what we see in current categories.
- Longer categories mean more optimization and more decision-making. E.g. side quests could actually benefit the runner in the long term.
- This category isn't over-the-top. My first blind run took under 2 hours. It could very realistically go down to 1:30:00/1:15:00 (I died way too many times).
- Longer categories give the runner more opportunities to save time, meaning less resets.
Here's my first run: Start: 6:30 Colossus Boulevard Start: 49:00
Note: Gobbler King% ends when talking to Ambrose upon completion of the quest, "New Neighbors?"
This run was super fun! I'll definitely be running it in the future as well as Krokotopia%.
Thanks!
Ah gotcha my bad. Yeah the DOT is definitely a time killer.
I completely agree with what VGP has to say. On top of that, Rattlebones is what I consider to be the make-it-or-break-it point of Unicorn Way, which can only be perfect if you run the Storm class. The main reason I decided to time the 1-pip spells was to have a better understanding of what would be the fastest spell specifically for Lost Souls and Skeleton Pirates (which is Imp). I found it surprising that Firecat was 80% of the time faster than Storm Serpent, and was interested to how it could potentially benefit a run. What I found was that it could be used for Field Guard in WC%.
120 Damage Firecat is slower than 125+ Damage Storm Serpents by roughly 50 milliseconds. There's only a 20% chance of killing a fairy with Firecat.
Honestly Storm is just better.
If Imp doesn't fit the range of damage required to kill an enemy, it will be faster (80% of the time) to use Firecat rather than Storm Serpent.
Then again, 50ms doesn't really do anything to the run so it doesn't really matter. I was just curious :)
