Hey! I don't really know what is happening for certain, but you can achieve the extra distance/jump by Jumping and attacking in very quick succession while keeping the jump button held down. So basically, hold Space and Left click at almost the same time!

I accidentally did this a few times while learning the game and thought nothing of it, or that maybe it was known but not allowed! I am very lucky to say the least XD

I have to thank yourself for the route I used also, would never have gotten close without it :)
