Ok, if we could update the rules to state 1 save max or something more well defined then I'm fine with that.
Adding a category doesn't force anyone to do anything; it simply adds differentiation between a save-game (some people would say this isn't even a real speed run) and a more traditional single-segment marathon run.
Can we add a single-segment category to differentiate between runs utilizing a save and those doing it all in one go? Thanks!
@Liv Yeah, I definitely understand although even Toad's run is segmented, as well as the other 2 top times so it was clearly being accepted that way.
*Oops, it was just the other 2, toad just had 2 videos.
@Liv As I said, I accidentally ran the timer, but you can also see that the in game date is consistent between when I saved in video 1 and the restart in video 2. There'd be no way to skip anything without changing that date. In any case, I do think it's important to differentiate between a save game run and a marathon run and I hope we can add that whether I become a mod or not.
@Twan_Jones @Habreno Yeah, in every case including mine the full runs were recorded, its just a 3.5-4hr game so the precedent had been set to pause somewhere in the middle, save, and then finish the run in a second segment. It's easy to tell from the in game date that nothing has been skipped but I do think there should be a marathon no-save category to differentiate.
@Liv The other top times all had a pause and restart, in fact the top run didn't even restart a paused timer but just added two separate timer counts together. I restarted my timer on accident before finishing the run due to global hotkeys being left on, hence the 2 minutes timer difference. As a mod I'd like to make a no-save category and update the existing rules to clarify timer pauses, etc. In any case I'm happy for @Toad22484 to check it out and weigh in for sure. Thanks!
Hello, I would like to become a mod for Shingen the Ruler ( https://www.speedrun.com/Shingen_the_Ruler ). I submitted my run 3 weeks ago and the only existing mod has not logged into speedrun for over 2 months and has not responded to my email to his listed address on his webpage. Doesn't look like he's streamed in a while too so he may be on a trip or something, but I'd love to be a mod either way. Thanks!
