Howdy, I'm working on setting up some stuff for this game and was wondering if level runs are meant to be in IGT or real time. Currently, it looks like it's real time, but I'm asking because I'm not sure what difference there would be (or harm) in having them be IGT. I'll try to send in some runs once I get a response just so I submit the correct time.
Howdy, I'm going to be submitting ILs and full game runs soon and noticed that there is no specification on whether extras are allowed in story runs for ILs. I would love to know whether I should expect to have them all before I start those runs or if I'm able to start working on them now.
Just wondering why the other recipes from those packs don't have leaderboards. One could make the argument that paid DLC shouldn't be on the boards, but I would like to counter that by saying that not everyone has to be able to run every IL (let alone want to).
Howdy, I was just wondering if using the English translation for SFC/SNES was acceptable for speedruns.
Sorry, I don't want to sound nitpicky, but Chieftain difficulty has been spelled wrong for the leaderboards. (Very grateful you guys have given us the variable for difficulty, though - I should try some runs out soon)
I was planning on doing a run or two, but the leaderboards look like a mess. There's no need for the PC/PS4/Xbox One versions of the game to be on separate leaderboards and the PS3/Xbox 360 versions aren't even options.
If I could make suggestions:
- Put the runs in one leaderboard. There's already a variable for platform, so there's no need to put them in different places (especially since someone made the rules so poorly written that I had to backtrack twice towards Any%'s rules)
- Add the 360/PS3 as consoles. Pretty straight-forward to why that should happen.
- Glitchless should be a subcategory, as in Any% is split into a standard board and the glitchless board.
- Miscellaneous categories could be 999 Mode, Walk in the Park Mode, Hardcore Mode, and Ironman Mode. Those make sense to have as other types of runs and I'd be down to make some firsts for at least some of these four.
- Über is its own category when it could easily just be a variable. Making it a variable would offer the possibility of the other difficulties as run types for those exceptional few.
- Many of the runs' with and without load times are the same. Because this would be absolute hell for one moderator to figure out by themself, I would understand why this might not get fixed.
- Level leaderboards for each chapter would be nice for those who want to do quick bouts of running or can't do a full run for some reason. I dunno.
Because one of the mods hasn't even logged in for two years, I am willing to act as a moderator. I am aware that I have not yet submitted a run, but I'm bringing up these concerns because I want to submit a run soon. I have moderation experience with Terminator Salvation after that previous moderator decided to pass the position down to me.
Didn't want to blot the mod list thread anymore, so I'm opening up this thread to talk about my IL runs. I hope we're on the same page; my runs are done on the XBLA version of the game and, if I'm understanding this right, the site just isn't letting those runs be marked as such?
I'll try to hold off on submitting more runs past the first four levels or so until we figure out a way to fix it.
What are the rules for individual levels? I saw the one run in Saint-Lô had an in-video time of around 12:40 but the time is posted as the video length; is there any set of concrete rules for timing or is it simply how long the level lasts, including not being able to move at the start?
Edit: CotV's timing starts in the middle of the black bars moving out, even though you don't have control at that point, which is different from MrRacingmonster. I'll wait on your call before I submit anything.
Edit 2: Each level saves at the end, so timing could stop when that screen appears to make things easier. I suppose that might mean re-timing everything, though.
I'm interested in running the game this summer but I wanted to know what the rules meant by pre-new game manipulation (just so I don't accidentally do it or something). I'll be running on an Xbox One.
This is mostly a question for Blaze, but is the High Quality Halloween Hack allowed just for fun? Asking because I'm not sure if it changed anything else aside from the music.
Just wondering what difficulty all of these runs are played on so I can consider running the game myself. I can't really tell if there's a specific rule for mandatory difficulty one way or another either, so it'd be nice if that was clarified in the rules for full-game and level leaderboards.
Finishing a walkthrough for this game and I think I might speedrun it on Normal and Hard, so I was wondering if Easy was planned to be added to the board.
Level leaderboards on each difficulty would be interesting as well.
I was wondering whether it was possible to expand the categories for Century Smash for each character instead of simply having a one-time-per-runner kind of deal, as characters have a different set of moves and some characters may be objectively faster than others at clearing the mode. I haven't done much of Century Smash myself yet and have only used Zelda so far, but I'm seeing a LOT of Rosalina, Bowser, and Lucina on the leaderboard. This would promote playing more runs with each character instead of heavily suggesting to new runners that there are specific characters that should be used.
I imagine having 80ish tabs for the Century Smash page would be a big disgusting mess, so maybe the CS records could go next to the two for Classic 0.0 and Classic 5.0 on the "level" leaderboards to put the three more original single-player modes next to each other.
I was wondering if challenge minikit runs could be added as a sub-category to the level leaderboard runs. Since there's an in-game timer that counts backwards from ten minutes (I think), it'd be easy to just subtract the remaining time from 10min to get your in-game time. Was wondering if this could be done because I currently am not able to set up a proper speedrunning timer and this would be possible for me to do in the meantime.
I was wondering if Speed Golf runs can be made into level leaderboards, which interests me because I cannot figure out how to set up a timer on my mac at the moment and the in-game timer would remove this issue.
Since Neil/Ella can be raised to Lv99, maybe it could be a rule that they cannot be used. Or maybe they can be used and there can be sub-categories for each Speed Golf level leaderboard for each character (since there aren't many characters anyway).
New to speedrunning in general and uploaded some videos I made for a walkthrough a while ago, but plan to make some proper speedruns soonish. I was wondering if the stealth camo and infinity bandana are allowed in the S-Rank runs, and if the infinity bandana is allowed in Any%. The rules don't specify this, so I was hoping that perhaps the judgment on these could be added there.
