Hey everyone, i created a discord channel for us if anyone would like to join.
Figured it would be easier to quickly chat and share stuff, then post the concrete resources in the forum and guides.
I'm getting it set up at the moment but if anyone has some suggestions feel free to hop in and let me know :D
yea the bench one has gotten me a few times also, i have been waiting until he starts disappering but i found you can do it a little bit earlier, i think as long as the fade from black is started it doesnt lock it, might can shave a bit more off there, but its a little sketchy on the timing.
The vents will consume us all.
On the first knight sequence while you are riding the lift up, ive fell between the crack about 3 times so far, if i catch it on video again ill post it lol. Think it happens in a dash at a certain frame of the lift near the ledge.
Random tidbit of info, was just doing a run and i dropped down earlier than normal to fall and die for the bunny skip and grabbed the ledge at the bottom on accident, which didnt kill me.
When i ran up to the ladder instead of being respawned at it to unlock the door, it didnt give the save icon checkpoint to reload, so it forced me into the bunny scene.
Not sure if it does it everytime you dont happen to die and get respawned at the door but just something to keep in mind.
I just posted a video of it in the guides section, its not too bad, mainly have to have the position right, the rest of it is easy to repeat.
I think right now since the times are pretty spread apart it hasn't mattered but wanted to get everyone's thoughts for future runs on when the timer technically supposed to be stopped.
The rules right now state "Time ends when you lose control of all characters, last one being the knight"
Would this be as he starts dropping off the ledge or when he lands on the ice after the drop?
I believe everyone right now is ending it when he lands, which would be the easier one to consistently stop the timer on.
Do you guys think it should be re-worded to say when he lands instead of loses control to avoid future issues?
New to running and this is my first game, just wanted to say hi and bring up a time save i hadn't noticed yet.
Looking forward to running with you guys and building up the community for the game, seems to be active and friendly so far from the little bit i have seen :D
If you look at 21:45 in my run, if you tap the other joystick in the opposite direction it will reset the animation it does for wading through the roots and move it forward a bit. So spamming it really quickly will make you run through the roots pretty fast.
"any% is literally any%, it's about finishing the game however you like without cheating the fastest way."
Pretty sure reading a save file with a text editor counts as cheating but whatever man
The point I was trying to make was allowing that in the most ran category is going to force everyone to do it and it's going to be cumbersome and dissuade people from bothering with it since that's a not a normal thing to do.
It also doesn't help that the only rule listed is "dont edit the save file" which usually implies don't touch it at all
But okay dude, you getting bent out of shape from simple questions is going to prevent what little amount of people want to run it from doing so.
There's hardly any info in the rules explaining how to run it, no feedback threads to gather other people's thoughts on it
It's just your vague video that everyone is working off of, to which you finally explain a pretty critical part that "you didn't edit the save file, only read it"
If you don't feel like bothering with it pass the moderation to someone else that will put in the effort, hell pass it to me and I'll at least update the rules and see what everyone wants to do.
I'm not sure if that would technically be counted as a "glitch"
Having to create a save and view the file each time sounds pretty obnoxious in the long run, especially with the rest of the randomness paired with how short the runs can be.
Would it be possible to make a category for "any% savefile" or something that could hold the runs the save file was manually read and have that updated in the rules for it?
Then the normal any% could be for glitches like the barrel skip but still require the randomly generated things to be found in-game first to count for the run.
Not wanting to take away from the runs that did it or anything, but usually any% categories are the most ran, and if someone is gonna have to read a file each time no one is gonna bother with it
This is also not possible to do on consoles, so it's going to be awkward having the rules only count towards one system in the same any% category
I started looking into running this game today and have noticed the same thing.
I believe it used to be either a fixed code or one from a defined set.
Now it seems it is randomly generated per new game.
Not really sure how to handle this lol. Would every run that doesn't get the code through the story be invalidated?
It seems like you can either get the code from the Doctor's house or have the train door unlocked through one of the characters
