I'm realizing that the different skins (I.e. underwater vs original) are different gameplay with different objects. I thought that they were only cosmetically different, but I think it does effect gameplay.
So both of the runs I submitted just now are probably not valid, I used underwater skin. Sorry to the mods for that.
Does the official clock start on player input, or is it purely in game clock? As I'm sure some have discovered, you can back up on stages without triggering the in game clock, allowing you to improve your speed at the beginning beyond what would otherwise be possible. I'm just wondering if exploiting this is something thats within the rules.
Maybe it's allowed but not glitchless? not sure if it's a glitch tho.
Thanks.
[EDIT: the run has been removed, the record holder has been given their placement back. Big thank you to the mod(s).]
The 6 second submission, which currently sits at #1 on the leaderboard, seems to be a mistake. The video linked shows a run much longer than 6 seconds. I didn't time the run, but it's closer to 60 seconds than 6.
Unless this is a misunderstanding, and a link to a vid of the 6 second run can be provided, can you give the real record holder their record back?
Sorry if I'm just misunderstanding something here
Wait... the video shows a run much longer than 6 seconds.
Just wondering if there will be any categories in which emulation will be allowed? I don't have a switch but I'd love to be able to participate in speedrunning this game some how.
Assuming the game works well on Yuzu, which I suppose it should given its a 2D Mario title.
Very nice. You bumped me outta the top 3 tho ya jerk! Jk lol good run
I have no new info, but this is interesting. Never heard of it.
But there are so many occurences in the game where the player definitely reaches orbit but the "reached orbit" messsage doesnt display. This will ruin some runs where the player did legitimately reach orbit :(
Im probably just salty because i was literally about to submit a PB that doesnt display the message lol. Oh well, ill try again :')
Unless the goal is intentionally to make sure nobody can speedrun this game, why not add a category? Or another mod? Or something lol.
I feel like this page was created specifically so nobody could ever speedrun this game xD.
Mod, if youre too busy to do it... why not add another mod?
It's safe to say that all the Mario 64 mods have plenty of relevant experience. Glad to see it!
Sry for typo, i obv meant 25.2 not 2.2 lol
