It doesn't come with splits no, you can easily make your own in edit splits. If when you are running the game and then go through a door the timer is pausing, then its working.
right click livesplit > edit layout > Add > Control > Scriptable Auto Splitter
You can't use an IGT script for consoles, we time those by RTA.
Yes to both. Bullet Adjust means you only have to pick up the one box on the chair in the school. Hard mode with Green HB is slightly faster but also extremely difficult.
Since this game was never officially released on PlayStation Network; playing off of a memory stick or PSTV via CFW should either be banned or separated into a "Emulator / Backup Loader" sub category because the load time differences are huge vs UMD loads (like actual minutes of difference overall).
I'd rather we just banned it then honestly because that'd look a bit of a mess.
And yeah I also agree about the QS/QL in 2/3 honestly, I guess its too far gone at this point? Whereas this is still relatively new and easier to reverse.
I'll just kinda echo what I said in the discord
Firstly, its not a strat or discovery since its in the actual manual of the game, probably intended for Game Overs rather than actually quitting, so an oversight on the developers' part. However as the game goes by IGT and thus should be single segment as others have said, it should therefor be not allowed. At this point I think the category should be renamed "NG (Easy)" to fall inline with the previous games in the series' leaderboards, and make a miscellaneous category for Q/C since is still a very gray area.
Shame there's no way to "drop in". Sharing incase anyone does any more investigating with OoB. My maps of all OoB areas is almost finished, hopefully within a week.
UFO you just use X6 bullet adjust :)
Hard+HB is still God strat though
Yeah I managed to get it last night without the sound but that sound DOES confirm you got it and is preferred.
Good+ is easy now, you still need to pickup the shotgun shells in the motel garage (save 6 on twinfeeler, +12 from garage pickup), you'll have more than enough for Incubus. You can't skp the pickup because you need an extra 6, but because Easy is X2 bullet adjust you'll get 12.
This problem would be instantly solved if JP was faster since there is no PSN release for that version.
Funny thing is, the JP version actually emulates better (door transitions, better framerate).
Just a heads up before someone does a run for PSP, the game isn't actually available on PSN to download (same with Time Busters - https://www.speedrun.com/bbttb)
The only way to get either game on a PSP is to mod the system, which wouldn't be legit or fair to PS runners.
FYI PSP has REALLY fast load times for most PS1 games (much faster than PS2s FDS).
3 of the most problematic doors are: school roof, church exit and lighthouse. The first two you can angle, but lighthouse not really? You CAN open these head on but its a specific frame, sometimes you'll get lucky. In the case of lighthouse its pretty much 50/50.
Harry bonks on pretty much any wall/door head on though, IIRC its 6 running steps and then he's able to bonk. Most doors you can just mash X though.
Another door which is 50/50 (I think), is the school hallway right after the courtyard (where there's the first grey child dodge), you can either circle around him and then angle at the door, or cut the corner and you can just open the door head on (less than 6 running steps), but cutting the corner is risky because 50/50 chance of a grab.
You just go by real time like any other console speedrun. There's no way to "capture" the IGT unless you're on an emulator which isn't allowed anyway.
Ultimately using a timer/splits with SH is only for you to keep track because the only time that matters is on the results screen.
It's never bothered me personally, I run plenty of games where console is lumped in with PC. Like Ply said, simply use the filters. I think it would be better if we had filters and sub filters like:
Filters
Computers > PC, Mac Consoles > PS2, Xbox
For example, where you can choose to see all console runs rather than specific platforms, but thats up to the site itself.
