Hello Wonder runners and enthusiasts! The 1 year anniversary of this game is coming up on October 20th next weekend, so we'd love to host a community race to celebrate the occasion! The form below asks the category you'd like to run + your times/dates available. With the 20th on Sunday, we have an option for Saturday the 19th if needed.
Anyone is welcome to join! We'll use therun.gg to keep track of the race; a Twitch account is required to join races. If you plan on submitting to the boards, we'd highly recommend streaming your run for an easier verification process. It is not necessary if you're unable to.
The form will close on Tuesday at 12AM PST, 72 hours from the time this message was posted. Your response can be edited later if needed, we hope to see you there!
Hello Wonder runners and viewers! The community has decided to rename the "All Royal Seeds" category to "Any% No Major Glitches".
The main reason is due to the arbitrary nature of "All Royal Seeds", as this name does not imply that world skips are banned. This has confused many new members of the community, which led to discussions and a later poll on a potential new name.
This poll was conducted in the discord server, which I would recommend joining for the most up-to-date discussion and updates to the game (link at the top of the page).
The rules for "Any% No Major Glitches" (this can be shortened to Any% NMG or just NMG) have been slightly updated, but there has been no changes to the rules. The updated line reads
A "major glitch" is any glitch or exploit that allows the player to sequence break and skip any intended levels, or play levels in an order that isn't intended to be possible. More specifically, any use of "Overworld Out of Bounds" is banned.
For those who voted, thank you for your participation! For those new, we hope this name change is more clear to you!
Hello Wonder runners!
We have just concluded our poll in the SMBW Speedrunning Discord regarding the "All Badges" category, and it has been determined that the category will now be under the 100% subcategory "No Standees." This also means that true 100% runs will be found under "100% - Standees."
The leaderboards now reflect these changes, so please take note of the new subcategories when submitting 100% runs. Thank you for your understanding, and let us know if you have any questions!
Hello! Today making a change to video requirements:
Starting February 2nd, all submitted run videos must be a public (or unlisted) YouTube video or Twitch (permanent) highlight/upload.
There's a couple reasons why we're instating this requirement:
- Runs submitted on some video platforms, such as Twitter, cause issues with retiming videos to the frame.
- Some file sharing platforms such as Google Drive are prone to submission errors such as submitting videos that are not publicly accessible. Google Drive/Photos in particular raises privacy concerns, as some people (perhaps unknowingly) have their full name or personal email attached to these videos.
- Some file sharing platforms are not permanent! It's an issue when the video for a run disappears after a short timeframe.
- Adding on to the previous point, when submitting a Twitch VOD, make sure to highlight it, as Twitch automatically removes Past Broadcasts after 14/60 days.
Thank you for your cooperation.
We're going to start adding the first category extensions onto the CE board on Sunday, January 7. They'll be added as people show their runs in the discord, so any CE's without interest won't be added. I've listed the chosen CEs and their rules below. Also, we decided that subcats separating runs with and without OOB glitches will exist, where applicable.
If you had an idea which was not added, don't worry! We'll probably create more in the future. Your idea is more likely to be added if people have ran the category, so try out your idea to see if it's fun and let us know in the discord server!
Be sure to give feedback or ask any questions in the discord. Thanks and happy running!

Super Mario Bros. Wonder has finally received its first update, and as many would have expected: the "Overworld Out of Bounds" exploit has been patched. Check #announcements in the discord (https://discord.gg/kxjxDKu4QX) for further details.
If you have any interest in using the glitch, you should not update the game and you should consider turning on aeroplane mode if you want to be extra safe. If you have not disabled auto-updates on your Switch the game may have updated on its own already but you may be able to quickly turn it off in the settings and keep yourself on 1.0.0.
