No. It saves time because saving is slow on console. It is your choice whether or not you want to do that.
The only reason people do continue+no save is because it saves lag frames. Simply has a very good video on lag frames and how important they are for saving time, and I'll link it here. Hope this helps.

Replacing Expiring Twitch VODs
